battery vent trap
Hoping to find one or more of these battery vent traps. They came with the Varta OEM Crossfire battery. Anybody have one or more of these laying around??
Bob, only one of my three cars still has that vent. I have been hunting them for three or four years. I hope you find a source.

I Googled the Mercedes part number on it, 0005410063 and the only link of any substance led me back to this forum.
It appears to be a part that is put on batteries made by Mercedes, I could find no trace of it on the Varta web site.
My vent trap was a little loose so I carefully forced a 11/32" drill end, not the drilling end, into the hole and warm it carefully with a heat gun until it got soft. I then cooled it under a tap and the part had grown enough to fit tightly in the battery. They probably get loose and fall out or are easily knocked out.
Failing to get one I would use the vent kit mentioned by ala_xfire, we have seen the damage done by spilled acid and it is not nice. The vent kit would be better in major spills, cars with batteries in the trunk are vented to the exterior of the car.

yeah just ran out again...The other side is tight to firewall..I did reach and felt an open hole...Where do i find a plug to cap it off...would you happen to know. Thanks, Jeff
I think the last three AGM batteries I bought from Auto Zone had a little plastic bag attached with vent parts. I could be wrong, it’s been a while, any parts store should have plugs and vent kits. My Dodge Magnum had the battery in the rear under the floor and I know I had to buy a fitting and hose for it.

The batteries come with two plugs in them to prevent spillage. That rear hole may already have a plug in it.
