Default A/C Question

How many of you have or are experiencing the a/c blowing just warm air for the first 3 minutes after turning it on. Is this normal? In my other cars the a/c usually blows warm for about 45 sec and then you can feel cold air coming through the vents eventhough the car is still warm, but on the X-Fire its like 3 min. and you can feel that the air is warm coming through the vents then the cool air begins. Its like if the compressor is being delayed or something.

Anyone experiencing the same prob. or similar?

Mine generates cool air very quickly. I have not timed it but I'm sure it is less than a minute.

Take it in to be checked; mine is super cool after a few seconds.

Also, if it's a hot day, then you'll want to lower the windows and allow hot air to escape while running the A/C. Then when cabin temps cool down you can hit the recirculate button to pull air only from inside the car.

I agree, take it to be checked out. I was amazed at how fast mine cools down.

My ventilation can blow hot for a short time after I restart the car following a reasonably fast journey. I reckon this is just the residual heat from the engine bay which has warmed the air in the pipes before the A/C kicks in and blows cold.

I'm due a service in about 3000 miles. I will be asking them about it.

English_Bob,

yeah what your experiencing i'm experiencing i dont know if this is normal, I will have it checked out. Cause it also happens if i'm running the car constant for 30 min with a/c then i shut if off completely only to turn it on again after maybe 5 minutes the first air blowing out the vents is always HOT i have to wait again like 2 min for it to blow ice cold.

Try running the car with the heater set to full on and the windows down so as not to melt. I reckon this reduces the temperature of the engine bay by moving the thermal energy into the car, and as a result the air going into the engine is cooler = more power.

Not sure about the drag from the open windows = slower.

I need to run some tests to see if it make a difference, and if it does, vent the hot air to the back of the car instead of into it.
