Default What is it worth?

Hello,

I am hopefully going to be a new CF owner soon. I currently have a modified Grand Cherokee but 14.5 mpg isn't cutting it when I drive 66mi round trip to work every day... Anyways I have a few questions and I apologize in advance for the lenghty e-mail, but I figured I'd get them all in one thread instead of posting them individually. Thanks in advance for your help

There are several CFs for sale in my area, but I am hoping people more familiar with this particular vehicle could offer some insight into a reasonable price for them. Below I listed a few that I would be interested in, hopefully I can get some feedback on whether the prices are reasonable or not.

2006 w/ 28k mi black ltd $14,900

2007 w/ 30k mi gold exterior, also at $14,900

2006 w/ 30k mi red exterior , looks like custom interior with navigation head unit and backup camera installed $17,900

2006 ltd w/ 41k mi blue exterior for $14,800

All of them have auto transmissions and leather interiors with premium sound and cd players.

I was looking for a manual with leather interior, does such thing exist? In looking around I have not found a single one, so I am guessing they didn't produce that combination?

Also as far as the "con's" for this particular model I have searched the forum and think I have some 'common suspects':
-Oil changes- $130-150 a pop (though they are done every 9k instead of every 3k)
-Heated seats go out (on models with leather)
-Powder residue from brake pads
-Rear window falling out on all convertible models

Other than those things (most of which are minor) they look pretty reliable. Is there anything else I need to look for when purchasing a CF? Like I said I searched before and the things listed above are what I found just not sure if I missed anything.

Again sorry for the lenghthy post!
Thanks,
John

Hey John! Welcome to the Forum. All you want to know about our beloved cars is here on this site or just a question away.
As for your listed selections here is the order I'd pick just on the information given.
  1. 2007 Gold (rare color?), newer than others for same price, not BLACK
  2. 2006 Blue (best color), more miles (pretty reliable car) but better price, not BLACK
  3. 2006 Red (nice color), depends on what "custom" looks like, price=OUCH!, not BLACK
  4. keep looking
Don't be afraid to look far from home. A quick flight and she's your's! Ask a member local to the car to check it out first.

Good Luck!

BTW, love yer Pizzas!

Thanks for the input!

So the pricing looks decent for the year and miles?

pizzaguy,

Guess there's not much hope in finding a manual with leather... Oh well.

Papa juan is just an old nickname that stuck. I wish I could make pizza that good haha.

When I bought my 07 6 spd Limited (heated leather) there were 12 new XFs on the lot....mine was the only 6 spd of the bunch. I'm guessing 10-20% were 6 spds. I also have a new 08 automatic & the 6 spd gets about 1.5 mpg better ....even though I drive it much harder than my wife drives her automatic.

One time I drove the 6 spd real easy for almost a whole tank (just to see what it could get) & I ave. over 26 mpg. I buy a BP premium that does not have any ETOH in it & routinely average 24.5 mpg over long periods of time.

LOL Mark! That's the spirit!!!!!! BTW John, where you at, because folks come around this stuff all the time. I know an SSB 2005 Ltd auto with 12K on it that she wants 12.5 for and that one is a nice one. It'll be easier for folks to help you to find something.

I am in the St. Louis area. 12.5k for 12k isn't bad at all, where is it located? I am still trying to figure out what I can get for my Jeep.

The car is located in Minneapolis. it belongs to an acquaintance of mine, female, that took a job in Hong Kong, and left the car behind. i'd be buying it if mine got rapped or lost it somehow.

Interesting. I'll send you a pm.

One was just listed at a dealership by my house I am going to check out tonight. More to just test drive one than looking to actually buy it. Price seems high to me, but then again I don't have any frame of reference for this model.

07 ltd roadster w/ 21k mi 1 owner for $19,500

2007 Chrysler Crossfire Limited, $19,599 - Cars.com

As far as the oil changes go if you go to a service shop yes it'll be 120-130 a pop. The intervals on synthetic should be around 6-7k miles before you have to change again. If you buy the oil and filter and do it yourself your looking at a low of $65 to $80 for 9 quarts of Mobil 1 and a filter. I just did mine by myself SUPER EASY and it cost me 65.71 after tax for 9 quarts and 1 filter. Hope that helps!

Price is high since I bought my coupe almost 2 years ago brand new for $18,500 after tax. Had 16 miles on the clock when I picked it up from the dealership. Mine has the 6 speed manual as well.

Test drove it tonight. Loved the ride! very smooth, great handling, but they wanted way too much for it. The guy said they could come down "a couple hundred dollars" but that was it. I said 'well we gave it a shot didnt we?' shook his hand and walked out. I wasn't trying to be an @$$ but I'm not going to waste my time with that when I know there are better deals out there. The search continues... I'm not in a rush though I don't NEED to buy a car right now so I have an advantage. I want to look at a few others in the area, that one just happened to be right by my house.
