Thanks, Joe. It was a pleasure meeting you, sir.

Did your boxes contain all the correct bits? I would LOVE to hear the conversation we all know is coming.....

The ride quality is much, much better.

Sadly Max or to be expected two KYB shocks were without sleeves so back they go. Same ones as George's fronts.
You have an amazing ride, immaculate, first class and the mods are professionally and seamlessly done. Know it will go to a good worthy home and really hope you stay active with us guys that have the over 100k cars and less cause we need your sage advise to keep us moving between the quard rails. Thanks, all. I'll stick around, because I don't think I'll be hanging out on the VW/GTI forums. Mostly kids.

I've typed up a data sheet and taken new pics.

Let your people know?

I'm on VW Vortex simply out of necessity, back when I had a miserable tenure with a VW CC. I'm 32 and even I didn't feel "at home" there. But I'm an old soul, so...

John,

I asked a question on that forum about "Why can't I lock my car without a key fob"?

And received a shitstorm from 2 millennials (sorry!) and a MODERATOR!

"Why don't you keep your fob in your pocket 24/7? We do!"

And

"It's to prevent anyone from interacting with your car!"

The door panel switches only work if:

You have a fob in your pocket, AND you are SITTING IN THE CAR!

Seemed weird to me, but they apparently know better....

For your edification:

VWVortex.com - Keyless Entry/Exit

We ROCK, guys and gals!

Ugh. These are probably the same meek men you can find in any given Starbucks at 10a.m. on a weekday, being social justice warriors on the Huff-Po comments section. Real badasses.

For that forum to be dedicated to an entry-level marque, I've never detected so many superiority complexes. It's a very interesting psychology study. It's almost like it's the first time in their life they've leased something of value, and now they're sh*tting in tall cotton.

Kids.

I have at times wandered into a ricer forum when searching for something and I could not get over the way they spoke to one another. They talk like kids in junior school and know little or nothing about cars. Comical and sad at the same time.
Looking back I can recall that we have some of these people on here, they lived in a fairyland, one of them wanted sponsors to enter him in the Cannon ball run. According to him he had entered and been accepted, this all fizzled out. I should resurrect that thread for laughs.

It's a disturbing trend in my age group (and younger). People talk to each other as if they have little value for the other person (because, well, they usually don't). At some point in life you'll stop to realize you don't have any old (long-time) friends.

Many of these people are socially-awkward and lack proper communicative abilities. In person, they lack the ***** required to say the same things they can so easily type in anonymity. It's a deferred aggression from frustration with their own life situation, more often than not.

Thank you Sigmund, I concur completely.
How many years before laughter dies, and all youngsters do is say "LOL" ?

These people find security in gangs and have no guilt in picking on one person and beating them senseless for no reason at all. If they met that same person one on one they would slide away into the crowd.
A bully relies on on fear, we had one at school who met a bad end. Twice he picked on people who beat the living heck out of him, one was an off duty cop who beat him up bad in self defense and had him jailed for assault, another did the same when he tried to impress a girlfriend.
As they say it's hard to make old friends.

99% of the time when I type LOL, I'm sitting there with the emotion of a poker player.

The more accurate acronym is SALTS -- smiled a little, then stopped

It's not all gloom and doom though. In the age group of 8-15, I'm seeing a trend of laying the phones aside when they're actually "hanging out". That's a good thing. (source -- I work with multiple age groups at a "mega church", haha).

Much truth in that, sir.

I think it is from parents who were not, and they got everything they wanted and by gawd when they say/type something they expect everyone to nod approval like they do while they type in some obscure place (usually in mom and dads house). Parents can not be their kids 'friends'. And, too many 'others' tend to want to tell everyone how to raise and not raise them. Hell-in-a-handbasket, I say.

Back to the OP, just ordered a brake bleeding (one person) tool for the DOT4 brake fluid I bought last week. Next month, is my annual oil change so while doing that I'll jackstand all 4 wheels and clean the rims and change the brake fluid. We'll see how that goes next month!

I fitted these and I found them perfect, no muss no fuss.
I found one size was commonly used on motor bikes and they were cheaper than from an auto supply.

Installed dead petal. $14 off Ebay. A little larger than I'd like but not bad.

Guys,

thanks for the confirmation. I thought I was just getting old.

It appears I'm getting old with old friends by my side!
