Weather was nice late last week & today (rained all day Sunday), so I took the opportunity to do a full exterior detail on the 2007 Coupe. I used Adam's Waterless Wash (Coupe sits under a car ccover) as the 1st coat, then used Mother's Speed Clay 2.0 with Meguiar's Quick Detailer Spray to remove surface contaminants. Finished up with an application of Torque Detail Mirror Shine. Coupe really looks good - Back under the car cover.

Sorry for the late reply, just saw this post. For that job, yes, jack stands would make the most sense since you will need to turn the steering wheel a little to the left to be able to remove the steering wheel damper bolt on the driver's side.

Put the top down for the first time and drove it. Wife and I had a blast driving the roadster today with the top down. Weather is 77 degrees and sunny which was perfect. Much better visibility with the top down for sure.

Took time today to check the torque values on the valve cover screws on the 2007 Coupe. Found 3 screws that were somewhat shy of the required torque value (10 N-m). I find that doing this every 2-3 years helps prevent any oil leakage from the valve covers. So far, so good!

Lack of snow gave me an itch to detail like a pro.....but then it snowed again so I went back to my chair. And here I found this article from morotauthority that does that and the many other aspects of what we all enjoy. Combustion

Has anyone else noticed how sparse the motor oil pickings have become at your local Walmart? The last 2 times I've been there I wanted to buy Euro/European (MB 229.3 or 229.5 spec) 5W-40 in the 5QT "big bottle". Nope, none. Two or three 1L bottles at one store; that was all. Also the prices have gone up another $5, $6 or $7 dollars. The government's stated inflation rate of 7% is a total lie. Even Dollar Tree changed all their prices from $1.00 to $1.25 on everything in the store! My local NAPA "supposedly" has 5QT bottles of Euro-spec Mobil 1 for $31.

I know... I'm spoiled. I just never had to make a DEDICATED TRIP to buy oil before!

......real inflation, WD40, is over 25% when you count food, gas, energy.....not to mention the Outrageous prices of things claimed to be unavailable due to made up reasons.

And speaking of oil going up, a new Local Chrysler Dealer sent me this coupon for an Full oil change, including tire rotation (including so much more).
It’s worth a visit.

Does that include an engine rebuild?

I would not trust them (Chrysler stealership) to touch my car unless I could not do the work (AND) I still would not trust THEM to do it I would use an indi European mechanic locally. Plus, although they say they would use synthetic, what brand, and is it MB approved for the car motor? Plus, them taking stuff apart to 'plus so much more', might result in a reference to repairs that will COST YOU 'so much more'...

Let the buyer beware! Good luck!

I received 2 coupons in the mail for FREE "Our best, $18 car wash" from one of the newly-built RAINDROP car wash locations that have recently sprouted-up around me. But I'm (justifiably I think) afraid to take a cloth/fabric roofed car through an automated car wash!

Am I being OVERLY cautious, or do you agree with me???

HA ! Didn’t Notice the $5995 typo from Chrysler/Jeep until you mentioned it !!

I visited the dealership yesterday talking about the Mann fleece filter and Mobil1 0-W40. They said they will order them for the oil change. Also left them the picture of the o rings (leaving #4 out)......And the correct position of the top o ring.

they even said I could watch.

(Arthritis prevents me from wanting to jack the car up to remove and replace the 4 screws on the protective engine panel). Anyways, I’m set for tomorrow ......(hopefully I won’t need the engine rebuild !)

Mercedes has changed their recommended viscosity requirement's for oil to 5w - 40w . A lot Crossfire owners are going with that

Crossfire owners have lost trunk letters from the rotating brushes and other parts . I would advise against it

A couple of typos in the above posts the oil actually is Mobil 1 0W-40 or Mobil 1 5W-40.

Well today officially marked the end of phase 1 of the swap/build! The pics are of the now torn apart 2002 clk 55 Amg. The rolling shell will be hauled back to its owner so he can scrap it and the engine/trans/rear end are all headed to my crossfire along with all the suspension stuff I’ve purchased! 48,000 miles on the donor car!!

Sweet! Start a thread in the Engines section, and document your build. You're going to love the outcome!
