I have seen many photos of CLP/SSM in various trunks posted here, mostly there was water damage due to a leak somewhere.
I took my trunk apart on a project and saw my CLP/SSM for the first time, what struck me was the fact that it was on its side and sitting on a wedge-shaped block of foam that raised it above the bottom of the trunk. If most CLP/SSMs are positioned like this I do not know but the block that raised the side of the CLP/SSM almost flush to the floor level of the trunk was not shown in the photos I have seen and certainly raised it higher if there was water in the trunk.

Yes that is exactly the way I found mine. In my 05 SRT convertible.

 

I just popped the inner most plugs in the wells from underneath so they could drain and said forget about it. I never bothered to take the trunk apart and actually look in the wells myself on my 2004. All I know is with the plugs popped I don't have to worry about a costly problem anymore.

 

~ Called local boneyard to see if they had any Xfires, they had 2 '04's. I snagged a good hood blanket, passenger side footwell netting with clips, complete good cupholder assembly, A/C **** not cracked, Chrysler Xfire floormats, all for...14.00...yes...14.00!
~ I forgot to check out the windshield surrounds....dooh!! Tail lights were good and I forgot to snag the letters off of the trunk lid...I'm going back.

 

Awesome! Now you know what the ole fellas felt when they hit gold in cal-e-forn-ya..... LOL

~ Repaired torn floor mat backside with hot glue
~ Removed chewed up hood blanket installed the hood blanket from the boneyard.
~ Installed formerly missing floor mats.....all on the Aero Blu

 

I replaced my center link today .Didn't think i was going to get the ball joint out. Other than that it was an easy fix.

 

Had to replace an outer bearing that was starting to growl.
Had to swap it in the parking garage I was at.
Temporary fix to get out of there.
Will replace inner and outer bearings/races, sensor and a tie rod end... what the heck since I'll be in the right wheel opening I will install a new windsheild washer pump in the reservoir since I bought new one month ago.

Swept out the Coupe's interior & then detailed same. Applied Lexol Cleaner & Conditioner to the leather seating surfaces.

 

Picked up my SRT6 yesterday after installation of several NeedsWings modifications: Overdrive Crank Pulley Kit; Tweaked Lower Y Pipe; Tweaked Stock Manifolds w/Crossovers; Exhaust Manifolds; Waldig Supercooler; ECU tune. Rob at NeedsWings is a pleasure to work with and was very helpful as we selected the upgrades. Installation was by Benz & Beemers in New Baltimore, MI, who also did a fantastic job. The exterior of the vehicle is still 100% stock.

 

Nice looking mods! Don't think I've ever seen the manifold crossovers before.

 

The manifold crossovers seemed like a good add to the tweaked manifolds. Not sure about the exact WHP add.

I wanted to increase HP while maintaining reliability. Just a street car, but overall power is impressive.

 

I did an oil and filter change and reset the FSS.

Also did the first year drain of the Needswings Oil Catch Can (less than 4,000 miles in the year). Only drained two or three tablespoons of oil from the can. But, I still think it's better to catch it in the can instead of going through the engine.

 

I like that you have to "86" the engine cover to install things. I think most car buyers are mechanical morons and it scares them to see engine parts that they haven't the foggiest clue about. Hence the introduction of engine covers to simplify things and not scare the buyer. I was reminded of this a year or two ago when I was looking for an oil leak on a friend's car. It was a Lexus and when I opened the hood and removed his engine cover, all easy as you please to me, his stress level shot ever skyward, close to a panic. I pointed out multiple areas where mechanics had either left parts (fasteners mainly) off the car or reinstalled things improperly, which only made his anxiety all the worse. He is one of those people who just crosses their fingers and hopes his vehicle won't stop running altogether. He has sort of an, "If you ignore the problem, maybe it will go away on it's own," attitude!

 

Made all the Christmas lights on dash dissapear.

Probably picked up a MPH or two with the fresh bearings 😆

Next is a new fleece and black gold.

Good job all is left is for you to reset your FSS since it says -13500 for an oil change.
