This picture, and your work Valk, is truly a work of art
what product or cleaner did you use ?
I first cover the alternator with some plastic to avoid water from entering it
Water hose from the house to spray it entirely while engine is cool to rinse away any dust
Drive it awhile to warm it up and dry it off
Griot's Black Satin Spray Coating for all black plastics and hoses etc
If you have an oil / grease build up use "Simple Green Degreaser Spray" and allow to soak for 5 to 10 minutes before rinsing off
Had quite a few limbs come down during Helene event that surrounded the cars in the driveway. One fairly large limb hit the Crossfire & tore a small opening in the car cover. Checked out the Crossfire & did not find any sign of permanent damage to the body. Got lucky! No big trees down, but lots of big trees down in neighbors' yards.
Duke Power said 1.1 million customers w/o power in NC & SC areas impacted by Helene. Duke said during a phone call that 30 trucks were coming from IL & IN to help restore power.

When my 2004 crossfire got caught in a hailstorm, it got 87 dings all over the car surface. It also took out a 2 x 2 section of the rear passenger tail light. GEICO totaled the car and gave me a check for $7,500.
…….the hailstorm damage was repaired by elite dent repair, a national company that came to Farmington, New York with about 15 trucks and same number of employees. They’re out of Florida and respond to all hail damage storms within hours or days depending on the distance. The repair bill was 4,500.
The broken lens was solved by a 3M product for lens repair for 10 bucks……. the red in the repair kit is the exact same tone of red as on the Rear tail light.
anyone who has a crack or missing section of the rear tail light might take a look at this product instead of spending 200 bucks on a lens coming out of a junkyard !
the damage to the taillight is the upper right. The line you see is the repair film applied over the hole.
Had an issue with a noise on the top end and thought for sure it was supercharger. Took everything apart and was crazy relieved to find it was SC bearing only.
Changing out oil cooler O-rings and water pump at same time.
Water pump has two holes for accessory bracket (not threaded). I didn’t want to just force the new bolts in and hope for a great self thread result (I broke both last time I changed water pump attempting to thread them into water pump and didn’t want a repeat). So I tapped them both with m8. Great result.
I made the investment in a bearing press 2 years ago. If you’re going to do your own work, it will pay for itself in a few uses.
My beloved 04 coupe Black 104K kilometers. Trying to put a few extra miles on the car before winter...so drove to bowling, no problems but it set a code on the way home P0106 MAF. I had had the engine beauty cover off earlier, so I thought perhaps the rubber was not seated properly on the plastic intake. May as well take the MAF off and clean the little wires. I have done this successfully on my Ford Ranger. ( PS easiest to remove the whole rubber elbow assembly with only two plastic arm clips holding it to the aluminum intake.) Completed the job with sensor cleaner and re-assembled. Get in the car and crap, it wont start, no crank at all. Absolutely nothing to do with the MAF work I was doing. Put in my spare RCM and moved the car to a safe out of the way place in the shop. Once more I find myself examining the Bad RCM on the test bench. Thanks to the forum I have a schematic. All fuses good. The three little troublesome solder pads look perfect under the microscope. So I checked the engine control relay contacts. perfect shiny smooth. Checked coil resistance (relay 2 and 3 are in parallel, so you expect about half of 75 ohms of a single). Applied 12V to Connector D2, ground on B5 and both relays should click in. Aha! RLY 3 DOES NOT PULL IN even though the coil has continuity. I wired in a spare relay to the #3 RLY solder pads just to see if my test jig was wired correctly, and yes the spare relay pulled in no problem. After that, presto, as if by magic, Relay 3 started to work, likely due to messing with the solder pads. It has to be replaced since you cannot leave an intermittent relay in service. I have seen relay coil go bad, but this symptom was new to me. The Crossfire will post multiple codes if the Engine control relay does not work. It is responsible for powering MAF, Fuel Pump, Injectors, Cam position sensor, and telling the PCM it is active. I think I did the MAF service for nothing. IF you don't mind me saying, the XF is the most annoying and troublesome car I have ever owned and this is my second one. My advice, don't go anywhere without a spare RCM and a crank position sensor. Oh yes, I washed it.
Nov 30th 2024. On yet another trip to the bowling alley, I stepped on the throttle and let the RPMs go nuts to pass a few cars. Apparently when I floored it the vacuum had reached atmospheric indicating a leak. Bingo on comes the CEL indicating Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor reading out of range. This little guy is readily accessible so I pull it off and have a look. Nothing to it. A little vacuum dashpot. The vacuum line had perished right at the sensor, so I just cut off half an inch and put it back together. I graphed the MAP readings on the scan tool, and all normal again. Reset codes and no more lights. I think it is time to replace a bunch of small vacuum lines as a preventative maintenance item.

back in the day, I'd have done this kind of work myself but with this car, I feel so unqualified working on it. I'm so afraid I'm going to mess something up. Tomorrow I take my SRT6 to the shop. First time since I bought it. They are going to do a smoke test on my fuel system.
I just found a small puddle of oil (looks like transmission fluid) under
the Crossfire when I was moving cars around to get ready for the trip to Fall Rally in Asheville NC. As such, I'm not driving the car up to Asheville & will stay home this weekend.
Found the source of the small oil leak we found when we moved cars in preparation of attending the Fall Rally. Turns out the source was the drain screw on the oil pan. Must have incorrectly installed the crush washer when I did an oil change earlier this year. So I removed the drain screw, drained the oil, cleaned the drain screw & put a new crusher washer on it in the correct orientation, re-installed the drain screw & tightened to required 30 Nm. I then slowly poured the oil back into the engine using the oil fill port. (Note: I didn't want to remove the oil filter for pouring the oil back into the engine. No need to waste an oil filter.) Started Coupe & checked for leaks. None found, so I started gathering up tools & putting stuff away.

Since I removed the splash shield to look for the oil leak, I decided to clean it up & re-paint the exterior surface before I re-installed it after leak repair work was finished. Turned out okay.

I'm glad that it wasn't anything major.
The splash shield looks pretty good! I might have to follow your lead and paint mine.

If I had it to do over, I would have used Flat Black paint instead of the Satin Black. Had a couple of cans of Satin Black. And the one can of Flat Black I still had wasn't enough to do the job. And I didn't feel like going up to Lowe's or Walmart to get a spray can of Flat Black. Anyway, only the mice are going to look at it!
With an opportunity to get back to some normalcy, Roberta & I took the 2007 Coupe to a local car show held at one of the churches in our area. Not a very big show, but quite a few classic cars & current performance cars. So we feel right at home with these vehicles! Ended taking tied for 2nd Place in Mopar class.
