Forgive me if it seems I am lost understanding your post as I do not have the setup you have. A couple questions please?

1. Is your CAI installed with filters outside the radiator wall?
2. Is the airboxes that you have for your CAI sealed to air below them from the engine (I ask because I have no idea what the 'assembled' air box system your mounting to the XF looks like)?

Commonly speaking, the restrictive total used in the intake air flow must not exceed the total of the designed airbox for an untuned engine, within reason, this is why I am asking the two Q's. I ask because I am curious as I do not nor have ever owned an SRT-6 (yet, if ever).

Obviously that added 'item' should not be there, and there should not be more than two filters in the intake air flow system (one each side).

Thanks for responding!

Got back from Black Mountain NC w/o any incident. Crossfire gas mileage was 27.2 for the total trip. Still runs good & strong.

But the most interesting thing on our trip was meeting a man loading his minivan last night. Made some noise going down the hallway. When I went out to see what was going on, he apologized for the noise. Told me he & his wife finally got a FEMA trailer to live in & they were checking out THU morning. Said they lost their home during Helene when it passed thru. He & his wife had been living at the Monte Vista hotel since OCT 1! Told me he & his wife were in the home when it got washed away! Their home was in Swannanoa NC on bottom land along the Swannanoa River. It flooded & took nearly everything in the bottomland. Area still looks really rough. Dump trucks hauling loads of waste all day long. I gave him a big hug & wished him good fortune going forward.

Hopefully the area will be cleaned up and rebuilding can begin soon.

Congratulations! Beautiful (both of you and the car of course LOL). How do you keep it so clean? What products do you use on the car and to keep the brakes rust free and clean the wheels that well?

You can sort of see part of the special bracket holding the Mann AE 2501 charcoal filter in the housing. Ive taken the filter out of the housing to show off the part number.

Notice, these are NOT Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 air cleaners. They are SL55 AMG dual cold air intake adapted to fit an SRT-6.

Folks, this is NOT a cabin air filter. Please don't say that my engine DCAI has a cabin air filter. I know what the cabin air filter is, where it goes, what it looks like etc... Again, this is NOT a cabin air filter.

Can anyone explain to me what the Mann AE 2501 does? Why is there a charcoal filter in my engine dual cold air intake system?

How come it only covers about 7/8 of the face of the filter housing?

I took the extra charcoal filter out for now. If anyone is interested in putting a SL55 AMG intake in their car, the clips on the bottom where the intake snaps on to the engine must be relocated. The previous owners welded additional clips to the factory clips to make it fit. See the photo below.

Again, this is NOT a cabin air filter. I promise.

You can bend or twist it any way you want, the paper filter you hold in your hand is a cabin air filter or an engine filter for a different model. The SL55 intake, an upgrade MOD due to being less restrictive, only has one filter and the parts number to my knowledge is MANN C3689. Perfect fit and only one filter.

So whatever is going on in your engine air filter compartment is wrong. There should not be two filters per compartment, there should not be a gap and the filter you have in there is a cabin air filter after all (just not for our cars) LOL. Go and buy the right filters and you should be golden!

I use "The Last Coat". They HAD a wide array of wonderful products. One of the products was called AMP. It is a wipe on ultra shine. They made a wheel clean that worked very very well. I use the past tense because they were lost in the pandemic ;(

Wow what a shame! Car looks incredibly clean and shiny. Wheels are often times difficult to keep clean..
I use the McGuire's rim cleaners and it works but so hard to clean the inside of the wheel wells. I guess a long brush works but not the best solution either.
Haven't found a good routine besides taking the entire wheel off so often, cleaning and waxing the inside of the wheel.

This morning, I used the Chemical Guys Headlight Restoration kit on the headlights and foglights. Worked really easily and quickly. And I forgot to take a Before picture. A few hours later the film from InvisibleMask for these lights arrived. Watched the instruction video, read the instructions, and had at it.
Looks great. Now, the new LEDs can blast the darkness away without impediment.
