Thanks to all of you for the kind words. They’ve been encouraging and appreciated. Long summer season of engine work and painting. I’ve been attempting to wrap up this project literally”every day” but something always gets in the way. I hope to install last pulley, Belt DCAI and fluids today. It would be nice to hear it run before I need to put it away for the winter

 

I follow essentially this same process & use the Griot's Black Satin Engine Bay Dressing. Where I differ from Gary's process is I don't drive the car to heat up the engine to dry it off after the light rinsing with the garden hose. After rinsing, I get the leaf blower out & dry off the motor.

Completed 2024 projects. It’s back together and running.
The paint is NEVER a perfect match. In my own opinion White is so hard to get right


When I remove the old 3m film that’s currently left on the hood next spring, I’ll apply new clear film to hood and Bumper. That will reduce the contrast from yellow hood to White bumper

(Recent crappy RockAuto experience with my Daily driver, Front axels and hubs they would not align. Play in hub and axel splines. 2 sets of axels 2 sets of hubs. Same crappy result, but I digress).

Clear Film
I may go to a graphic vinyl shop optical detail shop for this. BUT I’ve seen DIY Clear film for these cars on EBay. Sure would appreciate installation and lifespan experience feedback

I had XPEL Ultimate Fusion paint protection film applied to my aero blue SRT6 3 years ago; front bumper, hood, windshield surround, rock panels and the wing. The entire car was then professionally coated in ceramic.
As of today I you can't see any difference between the wrapped and unwrapped paint. The ceramic coating was a five step process; They had the car for a week.
The car is garage keep when I'm not driving it.
All of the above is clear film.

I like the product and the shop that applies the film so much, after I had these painted, the front of my wife's CLK 500 and the front bumper on the Limited Crossfire that I own covered with the same film; It is good stuff!

@UrbanE One other thing I should have mentioned. Each year the SRT6 goes into the shop for annual maintenance on the film and ceramic. They give it a total detail and refresh the ceramic as well as "Glassparency" which I have on all the glass. It runs about $250 for the annual.

 

It is my favourite Crossfire. White should have been a factory option but you did it better!

 

Thanks I’m with you. I really had to have white it was the only colour for me. The first time I saw a crossfire it was a coupe, it was in 2004 and it was White. At an event at an Art Gallery. I had to have one.

But we’re all like that, there’s a greatest colour for all of us. From Aero Blue to Oyster gold.

There is a downside to White.
I have O2 sensors coded out, Cat delete (Upper and Lower) muffler delete.
it does smell like raw fuel from time to time. The downside is the rear bumper turns Yellow above the pipes. Approximately 12” across. But it’s only a 2x a season cleanup.

I’ve just installed the LM21 upgraded TCU. Will try it out for the first time tomorrow.

Today my girlfriend and I took Svengoolie out to do some of what she calls "Leaf Peeping". I call it look at all the leaves that will have to be raked up!
I have to say, there were some fun roads to zip around on! The car handled great and I caught my girlfriend using the imaginary brake pedal on her side a few times! LOL
We stopped for lunch at the Jefferson Diner in Jefferson, NJ, which was featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners Drive-ins and Dives" TV show. The food was a little pricey, but very good.
Then We stopped to take a picture in front of the WD-40 Technical Center in Pine Brook, NJ.

I applied a fresh coat of Polish with my Porter Cable orbital polisher and then took it out for a beautiful Fall afternoon drive.
Then a new pic by a tree in my neighborhood when I got home.

 

I went to our local cruise night on Wednesday and my friend showed up with is 2006 roadster limited.
What was surprising was the 1933 Ford Phaeton that showed up. It was built by Boyd Coddington!

The season is coming to an end. It was getting dark by 6:30 pm.

 

Planning to attend our local Cars & Coffee event this Saturday. It will be the last Cars & Coffee event this year. After holding these events every month in the past, we only had 4 events this year, with every other month starting last April. Change is always inevitable.

the only problem with the bracket is if you are short the seat won't move that far forward.

 

I don't have a supercharger, but I know that oil is pricey, about $25.00. I wouldn't use it. I would have them exchange it or get a refund and find another one.
The fire extinguisher looks good BTW.
