This is what the vendor replied:Hello, I am sorry to see that the can has incurred that dent, glad to see it made it intact and not leaking! If you would prefer a different can to use for display we can exchange you. If there was surface rust on the steel can used by Mobil to contain there oil I apologize they chose that material.

I won't be using this vendor (Needswings) anymore.

My first thought and completely off topic

If all that oil is still in that can, then the can it came in. is a technological miracle and worth a lot more than the oil that's in it. Kind of funny observation don't you think?

Oh my, “Not going to use the vendor (Needswings)” good luck with all your hard to find XF Parts. Rob at Needswings is a go to for our cars.

If it’s not leaking and the oil is still in the can. You could always open the can and pour it into a jar with a screw top lid. If you bought it, you probably need it for your one SC most likely installed on the engine. If that’s the application then you’ll use 200-300ml. 3/4 of the can will be unused.

Unless you have 5-8 Superchargers to change the oil on, what else were you planning to use that oil for? And how were you going to store the remaining oil. I’m sure you’re weren’t going to leave it in an open can on a shelf. When you open the can, you’ll know why I say this.

BTW the Jet oil is a pretty bad smell. When you open it, best to do it outside and if you’re wiping any excess that’s spilled, best to use throw away shop rags.

Everyone of us that’s reading this and has opened that can knows EXACTLY what I’m talking about.

Stuff comes dented all the time. Before you decide to “never use that vendor again”, open the can and check it out in a clear jar.

I’m 100% certain that it will be perfectly OK.

Best to KNOW that your disappointed rather than just thinking you might be.

I have purchased incorrect parts from “vendors” in the past for other cars.

I’ve never received an incorrect part from Rob at Needswings and he’s always been available to answer tech questions I’ve asked. I don’t think of Needswings as a vendor. I think of them as a partner with my driving experience.

Give it a shot. Happy Saturday and hoping for a positive outcome for you.

You have only been here for a year
I wouldn't expect you to know how long Rob at Needswings has been supporting the Crossfire owners here and on Facebook
I have been here for 17 years and I do know how reputable Rob from Needswings is.
I'm sure a majority of other long time members would agree.
And as far as the date on the can goes it says its good til February 2030....What is the issue with the date on the can ?
Its a 10 year shelf life so 4.5 years old isn't a problem and I'm sure it wasn't dented at all when it shipped from Needswings

Yes, Nelson, I am sorry to see that the metal oil can is dented and told you we could exchange it, I then ate your second nastygram in which you clearly declined.

....further response written then deleted....

Nelson, i am sorry the transaction/relationship was soured over this and understand we will do not further business.
I also apologize to the forum for this to be here.

Edit/Addition on 11/19/24
On 11/02/24, Successful delivery of a replacement new can of SC oil from us to @Nelson G
Shipped to him along with a prepaid label for the return of the dented can to be returned to us. As of today the dented can has still not been shipped back.

No need to apologize Rob, some people can be unreasonable. You have helped me and many others on this forum. Your reputation still stands strong within the community.

A reputable vendor would not have sent a can like this out. It is not a good look but that's okay if you want to defend them. And you have no idea how long I have been looking at a Crossfire, right? You only know how long I have been a member right? So your assumptions are a little weak, right? And yes other vendors sell parts that are backed by a Lifetime Warranty, FCP for example. And yes the oil has a ten-year shelf life, but not the can, right? I would speculate that Needswings did not receive the can that way, or they would have said something to their vendor, as any small business owner would have, right?

We’re on borrowed time weather wise. We had snow Monday and today was 60 degrees. I had to grab one more spin. The purpose today was twofold 1) one more time roof down and 2) I tried out the LM21 Upgraded TCU. Wow, this is an amazing plug and play upgrade. Easy to install, easy to switch between modes, crazy responsive. For anyone looking for the easiest to install performance “plug and Play” upgrade. You need to consider this. I have the Eurocharged TCU and now the LM21 Upgraded TCU. This one is better by far, hands down. I’m sure there are other upgraded TCU’s available and I’m sure they’re great too but this one’s amazing. What a fun new toy.

Last image of the season. Certainly NOT Valk Quality background but, I was smiling all day.

Can you elaborate more on the TCU Upgrade like where to buy and how you upgrade? I'm not familiar with it

LM21 is a current member of this forum. Just search him out and send a PM

The swap is fast and easy
disconnect the negative battery terminal (the other steps are inside the car).
passenger Side foot well roll back the carpet at the end, expose and remove the white foam to expose the electrical components cover plate.
remove qty 3 10mm plastic nut fasteners. Roll the component panel forward.
the TCU is attached with 2 fasteners. I think T-27 Torx

unscrew, unplug, replace.

10 min from start to finish.

It was another 83 degree day today just 1 day before Halloween so I went out and enjoyed the afternoon top down !!
Headed by Skydive Chicago ,
( just closed today for the winter season )
Then over to Starved Rock State Park and surrounding areas.
Not likely to be the last day out with the Roadster but likely to be the last photos for this year.

Last Cruise Night of the season.
I took some pictures while the sun was setting.
Also we found this house while driving around looking at Halloween decorations.

Both seats in our limited roadster stopped working a few days ago, fuses all good so I ordered a relay from fcpeuro. Relay arrived a couple days later and yesterday I replaced it. Not difficult but not fun. Hard on an old guy who takes blood thinners hands. It’s done, seats work fine.

On the strength of this fine recommendation, and due to my wonderful experience with the paddle shifter kit (which I think is essential!), I went ahead and bought the TIeken/LM21 TCU upgrade to replace my Eurocharged version TCU. Why spend all that money when I already had a decent TCU upgrade from the laughably horrible stock Mercedes TCU program? It's to keep me interested in and happy to keep the beast by bringing it up to modern specs while keeping it as pristine as possible. So what do I think of this TCU? The shifts are even smoother, and they are faster. That makes me very very happy. Thanks for the recommendation!!
