Are there any vendors that offer rebuilt headlights for sale?

Not that I have ever seen.
Just the ones on eBay and some at dealers at astronomical prices.

What is the issue? Is it broken or just hazed over? Tell us the problem, there will be an answer for it.

Hazed over is easily remedied with the 3M or Meguire's Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration kit.
As to the "small led lights" : HUH ?

  1. You took the words right out of my mouth. I've used Meguiars successfully and find that a buffing wheel and Meguiars Ultimate compound keeps them nice.
  2. I don't personally care for the look of LEDs but to each his own.

Hey Oldtimer Where are you from? The LED lights are aftermarket. Unless you need them as daytime running lights for legal reasons like in Canada, you can remove them and leave them off. There are other ways around the legal issues, too. But suffice it to say that you can take them off. Using the 3M or Meguires system to restore the headlamps will save you a ton of money and bring them back to new condition. So there you have it - an inexpensive solution to your problem.

And if they are pretty bad.. I had used a "used" piece of 800 grit wet and dry before I found the forum, along with some plexi glass polish and got them at least to respectable. The kits will let you get a really good polish to them.. but If you don't treat regularly with a protectant .. or have them sealed, they will start back to yellow..

Just got done doing my hazed out headlights on my newly purchased 2006 Xfire limited 6sp Machine Gray with 28,850 miles on her. Used the 3 M and they turned out Fabulous.
I used a spf spray after to protect them. BTW did the 2006 Xfire have the Crossfire letters on the back? I like the look so i am going to put some on mine. LOVE LOVE my Baby

Yes they all had them, pepes took them off for appearance and they made it hard to polish. I am in two minds to take mine off.

I had my headlights 'tinted' to go with my black trim. Then a clear coat on top of that. No more hazing nor maintenance!

I had my letters removed from the back. I wanted to keep them but the limited English speaking painter said he'd keep them. I said, no, I want them. Then he quoted me a good price for some painting, and I let him keep the letters. Money talks! I like the letters off, anyway!

The 3M kit is unbelievable! My headlights literally looked like the car just came off the assembly line. Get it.

Mine are cracked or crazed and seem to have moisture/oil that has seeped inside. What about replacement? anyone know a source for both front headlights?

Hey All,

Well I messed up. I may need a new light, but I wanted to see if anyone else had some ideas. My lights are very dim so I was trying to point them up some more and while adjusting them I think the adjusting "rod" that screws in broke. The light will now not adjust at all. They are pointing more downward now and I need to figure out how to adjust them if possible. Also any suggestions to make my lights brighter would be great as well. Thanks!

The adjustment screw has come out of the nut thingy inside, you can screw it back together quite simply.
There is a thread on it somewhere.

That's what usually happens when pepes try and adjust them. I guess that's what has happened.

Thanks! This happened last night so I have not had time to dig into it yet due to working all day. I will take a look at it tonight and hopefully it is just screwing it back together. I just figured since I was actually putting more tension on the screw by adjusting the light upwards and screwing it in it had possibly broke.
