What's the big deal with the "AMG" club. My 2000 model Mercedes SL500 was offered with an AMG package for the car that consisted of nothing but minor body add-ons and different wheels. No performance upgrades included. But they did call it the "AMG version" of the car. Would that car qualify for the AMG club?

Nope, that was the appearance package. Basically skirts and bumpers for a SL500. The SL55 however was an AMG with the 5.5 Liter supercharged V8 and some suspension components.

Last of the great SL's before the Airbag suspension era. I'd say that's pretty special.

So, here's the key point for me from this official source of record. The reply was not "Your car is not an AMG vehicle". The reply was "Your car is not an official AMG vehicle."

Thus, the SRT6 is an AMG vehicle...just not "officially". To my mind, Case closed.

Personally,
I don't validate myself by what club (HOG for one) or group I can join because of what I can or can't afford. My pond is a little deeper than that.

To be an AMG vehicle it first has to be a Mercedes, the Crossfire fails on two counts.
It even fails to be recognized as an SRT in some quarters.

I'm confused about that blow-up doll. Would that be considered a mod? Or did it have some mods done to it after somebody roughed it up?

Thirteendog, the SLs don't use air suspension, the system is called ABC (Active Body Control) and is hydraulic.

Oh...and a few pages back someone said the srt6 was an slk55. It's actually an slk32. The 55 has a V8 and was not introduced until the 171 chassis slk.

- Yes I'm bored. Portland just got hit with a bunch of snow and it shut down the city.
