Default Lock mechanism problem

My door was not shutting properly, was like the seat belt was in the way. A mechanic took apart the panel on the door and thought he fixed it but it is broken. The door will shut properly, but I have to unlock the door from the inside and reach outside to open the door. I will not go back to my original mechanic, and am now looking for a solution. Does anyone know if a mechanic in the Sarasota/Port Charlotte/Fort Myers, FL area who I could talk to to see if I can get this fixed?

thanks

This sounds like you would best be going to a good body shop not a mechanic. Could be poor door alignment. Body shop would be able to take care of that.
