Should I replace motor or not
Just found out my car is considered totaled from the recent floods in Daytona Beach. The value of my car is 7500 and insurance wants to give me the money, but should I put a new engine in the car?
I see where you can buy motors but i guess the dealership adds 25% and the the installation gets up to $7500, i really need opinions, i really love my car but not sure what to do

Used crossfire engines can be picked up inexpensively. There are many on ebay for less than $1,000. The problem is if the electronics and critical wiring/connectors in the car were submerged as well it is likely going to cause major problems when they corrode from the water contamination.
If the car was flooded your engine isn't your main concern. All the electronics will most likely be compromised. Take the money and look for another car unless your well versed in do it yourself car repair. Sorry, but in the long run your better off with another car.

Unless an SRT, I'd say take the money and buy a nicer one. You don't want to mess with all of the potential problems particularly if it was soaked with salt water.
ps what floods in Daytona ?

Almost two weeks ago it rain for several days and we received 6 inches and where we live the side streets were flooded.
i just put 4 new tires and water pump. They are offering $7500? If I take it what should I buy, I'm a girl and dont want to get messed over so ideas would be appreciated.
How many miles did the car have on it?
Like I said, depends on whether fresh or salt water. If salt, run do not walk.
We got 3 inches on Monday alone & over 10" for the month here but my house has good drainage, one of the things you look for when you have lived in Florida as long as I have. Have seen quite a few frog stranglers this month, seems every time I've driven to the beach I've gotten a car wash. Both ways. Was one of the reasons I just replaced the OEM Goodyears on the heep with Michelins. 6/32nds left but seeing the TC loight too often and just do not like the way it felt. And I tow often.
That said looks like DB got 7 inches just on the 24th and that is A Lot particularly when the water table is already high.

TAKE THE MONEY! Don't even consider any other options or opinions here. TAKE the $$$$$$$..... or you will spend many many of these $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!
BTW, you have some of the best Crossfire people down there in your own backyard to help you find another one......

Doesn't matter really what it is...it was under water.... The electronics alone are a ***** to repair, and not knocking it is a girl, but probably not mechanical in any way. That is a good settlement from the insurance and certainly enough to find another crossfire. Water damage in these cars can be catastrophic over time. The question was should she take the money, and I would do just that..... and move on and maybe up to an SRT6. Plenty of FL support down to help her out....

That's why we are trying to determine if its a Limited, or SRT convertible. The insurance company is only offering her $7500 for a Roadster. Even if it's just your average 50k mile Limited, it sounds like it's a "low ball" offer to me. It sounds more like an offer for an average mileage coupe
If it's higher mileage? Maybe not so much.
If it's an SRT? Then they're way low.
Of course it's a total, that's a given.
Julie just doesn't want to be taken to the cleaners, and that's what it sounds like the Insurance co. is trying to do to her. But until we get more information from her, there's no way to give her a better estimate as to how much her car should be worth.

You are right Mike. I missed the come back on it being a roadster. I doubt it to be an SRT since it has SRT on the seats and the rear end. I would think you would notice that as well as many comment on the s/c'd model to most drivers. It would depend on mileage, but I doubt any insurance company is going much higher, and finding a motor, a mechanic that can do the work, and the future possibilities of electrical corrosion....I would still look at settling.....but in the case of the roadster, you are right in trying to get more from them....
I agree, it's pretty hard to miss all the SRT badges on the car, but one never knows....it could have been de-badged before she bought it. (I doubt they would have been removed from the seat covers though).
I'm assuming it's your typical XF Florida roadster, which should mean it's still in pretty good shape.
The biggest determining factor would be the mileage.
If they don't offer her more money, I'd tell them to find her a comparable Crossfire Convertible to replace hers.

If you are fully insured demand identical replacement and watch the offer come up fast. They are trying to low ball you. Unless you have over 80k on even a Limited Roadster that is a LOW offer!!!
