BCM clicking window won't go up
BCM clicking window won't go up
So my 05 Limited Roadsters passenger side window will not go up and I believe that the BCM body control module is the culprit. I have performed the service manual diagnostics, Its not the motor or the switch and I can make the window go up by reversing the polarity, I also swapped the right side switch with the drivers side and it works properly there. I have continuity from the switch to the BCM. When the switch is depressed for up I hear a clicking sound from the BCM. I have removed the BCM and cleaned, reseated, and inspected it. All wires going to the BCM seem to be attached well. When I put the BCM back in the window worked and went up and down for a second but then went back to fault. There are no other BCM control issues present other than this. So for whatever reason the BCM is not sending power to the motor for up function. I have scoured the forum for info but see nothing on a clicking BCM.
Has anybody experienced this issue?
Has anybody seen a lose solder connection in their BCM and repaired it?
I will try to find a used BCM and replace it. Does the replacement BCM auto program when installed or is there more to it?
Thanks

Re: BCM clicking window won't go up
Sounds like you've done a thorough job diagnosing it. I'm in the middle of brewing some beer today...but I found this thread from 2013 on clicking BCM....I don't have time right now to read it all but it looks interesting. Any issues with the car alarm or locks not working?
Maybe this thread will help.

Re: BCM clicking window won't go up
"If the Body Control Module was replaced, turn the ignition on for 15 seconds (to allow the new BCM to learn VIN) or engine may not start."
You also may have to go through the reprogramming steps for the key fob in order for it to unlock/lock the doors....

Re: BCM clicking window won't go up
Be wary of them. They were supposed to rebuild the bcm for our van and instead we got a used one that had close to 19,000 more miles. If you go with them make damned sure that it is very clear and in writing that they are not to substitute used parts and document everything including your mileage.
Re: BCM clicking window won't go up
Update.
Received the replacement BCM same part# as the original A193 820 04 26.
The good, the window now goes up and down.
The bad, the rag top does not work.
I installed the BCM per the service manuals instructions gave it a good 30 seconds with key on for vin learning. Perhaps the replacement came from a coupe or maybe I need to give the key on learning process more time. Im $100 bucks into this at this point. I could send the original BCM out for repair at $250 more. While the BCM does at lot of things all its not doing is sending 12 volts to the window to make it go up, seems like a work around is possible because I can make the window go up by reversing the polarity at the motor? Further suggestions appreciated.

Re: BCM clicking window won't go up
Right, I tried the replacement again with a longer learn time with the same results.
My BCM nos. are part no. A193 820 04 26 (07)
TEMIC 00005357 04W32 HW:36/03 SW:44/03 5357U4HO4B64 which I assume is a SN.
The replacement is A193 820 04 26 (07) TEMIC 00005357 05W11
HW:47/03 SW:44/03 5357U5C16A27
So the hardware and maybe the date are different.
I'll see about my return options and continue to search for another BCM. A nearby junk yard has one with all numbers matching except the date for $104 but a 20% restock fee if it doesn't work. I may try that.
