Default Hood won't open fully

My hood will open to the normal position. The support arm has a button that you can normally push and will allow you to raise the hood to a fully vertical position. The button seems to be stuck or something and I can no longer open it fully. It's not a huge problem but would be nice to have working properly. Anybody else ever run into this issue?

This is a new one for me. Whenever I need to raise the hood to the full open position, after pushing the button I have to apply some force up to get the strut to extend. Have you tried spraying something like WD-40 on the button to free it up?

I haven't tried WD-40 yet, but might this evening. The button doesn't budge at all. It worked when we got the car. I actually opened it fully when we were buying it and the original owner had no idea it was even a feature. Always amazes people so it's kind of a neat little thing to show off. I recently unhooked the siren and it would've been nice if it had opened fully that day!

The button may be jammed in the housing, try putting some upward pressure on the hood while pressing the button.

Prop up the hood with a 2 x 4 and remove the strut and study it, and maybe take the cylinder off and have a good look at it.

I tried it when I got home yesterday evening and it was working normally. All's well once again.
