Default Stumble, stall?

2005 was just driving around my neighborhood and stoped at a light. Engine stumbles and stalled. Fired right up with turning the key 🔐 off and back to start.

wth? Any ideas?

A common cause for this is a bad Crank Position Sensor. Of course, it can be a dirty MAF sensor or a lot of other things, but if you have not replaced the CPS recently, I'd order one from German Auto Supply, Needswings, etc. Do not purchase locally. You want to search "Crank Position Sensor, 2003 SLK320"; OEM Bosch parts only.

What he said, BOSCH PARTS ONLY. Too many times (documented here) aftermarket parts sometimes do not connect or work properly.

If you are in Tempe you can get a Bosch from Auto Haus AZ in Tempe.

The crank sensor often sets a code and the CEL will come on. But this is not always the case, it seems that the crank sensor can fail such that the ECU knows it has failed and sets a code.
Other times, the CPS fails such that the ECU can't run the engine, but it also cant tell why it can't run the engine.

Sorry, but there is no definitive answer to your question.

Wrong PG, the definitive answer is "maybe" or "sometimes"
