I wonder why they used the hidden antenna on the coupes and the outside antenna on the roadsters? Does it have something to do with the windshield frame or the top?

The antenna is in the hatch glass.

Yea, if we Roadsters put the top down, an antenna in the window aint gonna work, now is it?
I think they just wanted to keep the "lines clean" as much as they could, so the coupe got a hidden antenna.
I ve often wondered, as I've never owned a coupe and have only test driven them from time to time - does the AM/FM reception in the coupe keep up with that of the Roadster?
I agree it's not OEM. Is there a plug in the rear fender where the antenna normally goes?
I don't think any car manufacturers were using that type of antenna in the mid 2000's. Ebay lists thousands of aftermarket shark fin antennas both real and decorative stick on.
Dang, it's hard to fool the long time members on this forum. We have long dark winters in Alaska and sometimes our sense of humor is influenced by our neighbors living to the east in the Yukon Territory. I apologize for that.
The nice thing about the fake shark fin antenna is that it can double as a rear diffuser (wink).
In full disclosure the "Bulls Head" Pablo Picasso sculpture above the door in my garage is fake too.
