I’m looking at switching to Hagerty for my 2008 Limited roadster, which I consider is in excellent condition with 46,840 miles on it. KBB lists the private party value on the high end at $14,184. Cars.com lists many with higher mileage well over that. Hagerty’s premium is $390/year for a $14K value, $403/year for a $15K value, and $416/year for a $16K value. I’m leaning towards insuring it at the $15K value. What are your thoughts on KBB’s values for our cars?

I don’t agree with the KBB or Cars values. I look at auction prices. www.bringatrailer.com and www.carsandbids.com have all of their past and current sales listed I use to gauge value. I suspect mine to be around $10k sale/auction price. It’s in great shape no dents everything works. There are go fast bits on it.
I did go with Hagerty and still have them. I have $15k coverage on mine. I’ve not had to file a claim with them yet.
I’m considering selling the car soon. I bought it with 49k it has 51k now. It just spent a week in the shop waiting for a brake booster. The shop had difficulties locating the part and finally found one. Parts are more scarce as the years go on.
if you’ve not insured yet, I would recommend hagerty. Alstate wanted 600/6months.
I have been with Hagerty for several years and very satisfied with the pricing, coverages, etc.

Been with Hagerty Plus for over 10 years now. That includes Roadside Service as well. The cost was less than half what Allstate was charging me. It must be garaged on your own property.
Insurance ID Card for SC doesn't state Hagerty as the provider of insurance. ID Card has ESSENTIA INSURANCE COMPANY as the provider of insurance coverage. However, the ID Card's backside does state that claims are handled by calling Hagerty.

Just as I’m looking into getting Hagerty insurance for the Crossfire, I got in a little bumper bender today (a lady turned in front of me without yielding the right-of-way). Luckily, I was driving my 2018 Jeep Wrangler JLU and not the Crossfire, and more importantly, no one was injured. It’s been 37 or 38 years since my last and only accident up to now, and that happened while I was sitting at a stop sign. Do you think this will impact my rate with Hagerty when they find out, even though I was not at fault?

So yesterday I went online with Hagerty. Their quote was half what I am paying with USAA for the same coverage. If your Xfire is not a daily driver, this is the way to go.
absolutely I also just signed up with them the other day for 62/month with 14k guaranteed value
Hagerty’s premium initially appeared to be a lot less. When I updated the coverage online to match what I currently have with Travelers (minimum coverages required by an umbrella policy), I found that going with Hagerty would only save me $31 per year. The only benefit I can see going with Hagerty is the guaranteed payout less the deductible. I’m on the fence now as to whether to change or not.

So I have USAA and love them because I like the peace of mind and their quality of the insurance is unmatched in my opinion and that goes a long way. But they don't offer Agreed Value policies unfortunately.
So I called Hagerty...they won't insure vehicles 5 miles within the coast in Florida
Was sad to hear that...next up I called USAA's agency, which contracts with American Collector and it seems like they will write a policy only if the car is barely used and only to and from car shows. Now, the car isn't my daily driver by any means but given that it's an SRT6 with a little over 25,000 miles on it, I get into it any chance I can when it's "top down" weather and I don't need trunk space.
So back to square 1...it's currently insured with USAA full coverage but I want to find a reputable company that will insure this vehicle for $20K preferably.
Any other ideas or experiences?

Repost: Don't waste your time with USAA. I had both my cars insured with them. I decided to check rates and place the XFIRE with a classic/collectible company and save money. Contacted USAA, discussed whether they had a company under their umbrella (for obvious reasons - we have 4 other bundled policies with them) that would meet this need. They use American Collectors Insurance. I was transferred over to that division, and after a lengthy discussion was informed the maximum value they would insure a crossfire SRT6 for was $8175. This was with an excellent record, garage, no tickets, accidents, blah blah blah. Absolutely insane ! (FYI, I choose Hagerty)

Keep in mind a guaranteed value is one of the few pricing/value controls an owner has.

YES, please see my post 8 & 16 above. I will repost an earlier response also for your viewing as I was in the exact situation with USAA as you describe.

I appreciate the link, I will contact another "classic car" insurance company but it should be one that is decent at least or else it's pointless and the ratings for the other companies besides Hagerty and AM Collectors are less than stellar.
Also, how did you actually get your car insured with Hagerty? They also are very strict on the usage apparently. Besides me living on the water in Florida (they won't write policies within 5 miles of the shore), they said they are also very strict on the usage of the vehicle. I don't know how you use your Crossfire but I like to drive mine whenever I get the chance, even though it isn't my daily driver. I'd check on what their policy contract actually says on usage because the way the agent described to me, it's very limited acceptable usage. That would scare the heck out of me as it's a perfect way of getting out of claims for a company.
nickwi21, Hagerty has a broker where I live, called and made an appointment, agent looked at my SRT, conversations followed regarding usage, etc. The usage/miles driven did not seem to be an issue (roughly 1500-2000/year). I had issues similar to yours with another company that I called. I could use the car to cruise, but could not use it to go to a Dr. visit. Absolutely absurd! Find a carrier from the listings on the provided link and start calling until you locate one that fits YOUR needs/price point. Location/geography play an important role in a company's underwriting policy. Note: I am only 4 miles from the ocean, go figure....
