Default BAS/ESP Steering Wheel issue

My steering wheel has been off center for a while while driving down the road so I took it off and put it back on so that it would be straight and now the BAS/ESP light stays on. I have tried resetting it several times by turning the wheel all the way left all the way right and back to center but it hasn’t worked. There are arrows on the steering shaft, steering wheel, and steering angle sensor. None of them are lined up to one another anymore since I adjusted it but I thought that by going through the reset it would make the light go off. Does anyone have any ideas?

Did the steering wheel go off centre after you had some steering work done or you hit a curb?
Looking over your previous posts you had similar problems before, is there anything you can learn from them?

The situation with this car is so confusing honestly. I wrecked it years ago and bent the tie rod, I replaced the tie rod assembly and the steering wheel hasn’t been straight since. No alignment shops can get the clamps on the wheels since one control arm is about one inch further back than the other. It drives straight and doesn’t really cause any problems. The BAS/ESP light went off years ago and since then I just put the steering wheel back on straight the other day and now the light is back. I feel like I messed something up with the steering angle sensor since the arrows don’t line up anymore but I thought the reset process would fix the issue but it hasn’t.

The fix isn't in the steering wheel. You said it yourself "one contol arm is about one inch further back than the other" ; That's your problem! Fix the control arm then get your steering wheel back to where it belongs.
