Default Crossfire Attention Is Crazy All Of A Sudden

I bought my base couple brand new in 2005 and it got a lot of attention then. Everyone would want to see it or ask me questions about it. The years following it didn't seem to get as much attention. The comments came on rare occasions and wasn't very frequent. I keep it in the garage and rarely drive it. It is immaculate in every way and the black paint just shines like a mirror. Now all of a sudden I find that everywhere I go people are impressed with it. People look at it or make comments or gestures about how much they love it. This is now happening every time I take it out of the garage. I find that a lot of people don't know what it is. I even had someone say they thought it was an "exotic" car. I took it in for an oil change and everyone working at the dealership kept asking me about it. Even the mechanic that changed the oil was blown away by it. He said he wanted to buy it and asked me how much I wanted for it.

Anyone else notice an uptick in comments and compliments?

By the way, I know I should change my own oil and I used to. I just don't want to deal with it anymore and I don't want to dispose of the old oil. I bought my usual 0-40 mobile 1 and a filter. I had the dealership do it and they charged me $30 for the labor. The extra 30 dollars was worth it to me.

Yes, when I go to the gas station, heads inevitably turn around and look. About 1 in 5 visits I get a thumbs up, whatizit, or someone who knows what it is telling me how cool it is. Yes, it is becoming an exotic IMO.

Nowadays it is uncommon to see a Crossfire and absolutely rare to see an SRT6. I've only seen one SRT in the past 7 years. The survival numbers for both models would be interesting.

I read a thread on here yesterday and someone knew someone who had access to the number of cars registered in the US, the number for the SRT6 was around 500 and he estimated that nowadays it would be closer to 400.
Its getting rarer by the day, I got mine but I am too old to see it regarded as a classic or even close to it. I'm more of a classic than the car.

I was driving down the street last week when this woman eyeballed us in the Coupe, I could see her stare at the car as we drove by and surprisingly the Cincinnati area does have a fair amount of Crossfires running around here.

Whenever I go to the local Cars & Coffee in Upstate SC, there are always folks that stop by & ask me about the car. True car enthusiasts of the 'baby boomer' generation know the car & always tell me how nice the 2007 Coupe looks. I typically get questions about where I had the car painted and then they are surprised when I tell them it is a factory color. (Note: Several years back, I took the car to the Chrysler National Car Show in Carlisle, PA. I had a hard time convincing even the Crossfire Owners that attended that Machine Gray was a factory color because they had never seen one before.) Those of the younger generations, always inquire about the car because they have never heard about it and/or seen one. And when I tell them it is essentially a 1st generation M-B SLK320 rolling chassis & drivetrain with a Chrysler-designed body sitting on it, they are amazed! There are quite a few Crossfire Owners in the Upstate of SC, and I come across one every now & then when I'm out running around. One of the primary reasons I purchased the Coupe back in 2008 was that I wanted something that was not seen everywhere around town. Corvettes, Porsches, M-Bs, BMWs, Audis, are everywhere; not a Crossfire!

I bought the exact same year/car (but MT6) for my son around 2009-10 in order to keep him off a motorcycle. Loved the color. He drove it through part of high school and college, then went overseas so he shipped it to me. I kept it running for three years but eventually sold it in 2021 for $5250 with about 43k miles. Sad to see it go but with two Crossfires and a Maserati, I was renting storage at that point.

Somewhere in the mid-teens I came across the roadster twin in a dealer lot in Grand Rapids MI. Very tempted to buy it to have a matching set but my son was disinterested so I moved on.

What's the cars and coffee in the upstate? I used to live over by Seneca and spent a bunch of time in greevillle. BMWs <- ha! There is a BMW factory right down the road and greenville has a growing German culture :-D

I bought my car for the unique look as well. I got a roadster for that enjoying the wind cruising look.
