Factory navigation
All,
What has been your experience with the factory installed navigation unit? My first one never worked correctly, so a new one was installed approximately 2 months ago. The second one still does not work properly (the directions are useless) and I am thinking about asking for a refund. Any help on this one?
Kevin

Between the voice direction and the small graphics it shows its more than adequate. Now if you're looking for graphics that show gas stations or restaurants while you're driving you won't get them with this nav. You have to look them up separately with POI setting(points of interest). For my needs this nav works just fine. Hope this answered what you needed.
I have found the Navigation system to be quite effective and has helped me find some very out of the way addresses. I have not had any issue with it. I program the address and off it goes. I suppose the more sophisticated ones are nicer with more features, but I'm happy I don't have a big screen on my dash to take up space. For my money, the navigation system is fine.
I found the system easy to set up and I did not get lost.
As for your system. Maybe it's your disks not the system.

My major complaint is that so many roads are not included - I seem to be "off-road" alot. However, it does show the direction that you need to go - as the bird fly's - which is a help but only if the system includes your destination. The POI's are very limited. Maybe Becker wasn't able to spend a lot of time in this part of KY. I've read on this forum that it's very expensive to buy replacement CD's and of course you still wouldn't know what has been added since your originals were issued. IMO it isn't worth the extra $1,200 sticker that Chrysler wants. My brother has a portable GPS that he paid less than $500 for about three years ago that has a map and is much more functional. Some of the better Chrysler Nav systems have a 20 gig hard-drive. Ours seems to depend on the two CDs. Of course my brother drives a Sky so what does he know.
Kilometers to miles. I forgot how I did it but I did, point being is it can be done just keep fidgeting. As far as installing it. I did my own install. My car is a 2004 and they did not come with nav. All I did was slide out the old, unplug it and plug in the new. plug in the GPS antenna and slide the radio back in. Takes about 5 minutes. Then open the side panel on the passenger dash and put the GPS antenna on the ledge on the top of the dash and you are done. I could do this to anyone's Crossfire in 10 minutes tops. Not sure what was back wards or how they could possibly screw it up.
