Back subs not really working?
I've noticed that my back "subs" aren't really working that well? I don't really receive any bass from them at all (i put my hand over it and little to no air comes out, especially with bass heavy songs).
I NEVER have my music really loud, (In fact, I've only had my music at max like, twice, to test how loud it actually really was) so I don't think I could ever pop or blow them.
Any suggestions?

I don't think the capacitor is going to make his subs any louder. Mine move some air when bass is involved in whatever I'm listening to. Anyone have any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this best?
I have a similar issue with mine too. When I first got my '04 the bass really boomed. It was great. Then my radio went out and the dealership replaced it (free under warranty). Ever since then the bass is about half of what it was. I have to really turn up the volume to get it to boom now. I have thought about buying an amp (200W @ WalMart for $50) and hooking it into the subwoofers. Anyone have any thoughts about that? Also, what is the best way to get to the subwoofers?

There are different settings for the radio besides the bass and treble. I forget how to get to them, but it involves pressing one of the keys down for 5 seconds or so. I think it is a "mode" setting. I played with it and the bass went away no matter what I did to the EQ. I then had to fiddle with that same "mode" function to get the bass back. I suggest trying to read the manual you can download from this forum and try this mode thing. This head unit radio is a detuned version of something else, which kind of sucks. If only the hole was big enough for a MyGig...
Hey, Scraper, you're on to something. I started playing around with the radio and I got all the great bass back that it used to have!!!
With the radio on, I pressed and held down the OPT button until it came up to 'USER 1'. I then turned the right **** and up came 'USER 2' and also much improved sound! I adjusted the bass & treble way up to 9's and life if great! I went back and tested 'USER 3' and that setting is good too, but 'USER 1' has about half the bass even with bass at 9. I'm going to experiment some more to see if I can determine the difference between user 1 and users 2 & 3.
Thanks for the tip!

If I remember correctly holding down the OPT button will reset all settings to 0. One thing I did notice is that the settings may be set differently on Radio and CD, Your favored settings on radio will not automatically apply to CD unless you set it separately.
IMO the cap mod does make a difference, it will redirect more bass to the subs. Anyway getting anything out of the subs requires music with some heavy bass and high volume.

Yep! That was what I was talking about...the "user" settings. These settings make a HUGE difference in how the radio sounds, and I haven't ever seen an explanation in the manual as to exactly what these are for or what they actually do. All I know is I fooled around with it and there was no bass. But it has since returned. You know, making a car stereo that isn't an ordeal to the owner should be pretty easy. They should be a stupid and easy to control as possible, and this one, as bare bones as it is, isn't so. Glad I could be of assistance. Now that you have it set, never fiddle with it again, I know I haven't!
