Well I can't believe it, I finally got a burnt CD to work. After many tries it was the NERO program that I had success with.
I want to thank MIke and others for the posted information.
I have had my xfire for a month now and I visit the forum often to see what people are doing to their cars and issues that they come across.

GREAT resource thanks all!

Very Very easy to do... I did it last night.. But then again, these directions are for MAC users. Dont know if they make ROXIO TOAST for shitty PC's..

1. Download the NAvigation files. I know there is a thread around somewhere b/c i used it yesterday.

2. Get yourself Roxio TOAST. I use toast 7, doesnt matter what version you use.

3. Open Toast. Make sure your creating a Data CD, not a Audio CD. Then select the "IS0 9660" option on the upper left hand side.

4. Click and Drag the .iso file to where is says, "Drop .iso file here"...duh

5. Burn that *****!!

I did it last night and had no problems what so ever. Hope this helps.

Speedster52, glad you got it sorted and it's working for you.

djreact33, thanks for the quick how-to on the Mac. I just couldn't get them to work when I burned from my Mac and I was starting to think it was a format compatibility issue. Nice to know it isn't. I'm adding your instructions for Mac burning to my original post in this thread.

I just burned the East CD from the download and it didn't work. My system gave acted like it was going to search for my destination but then came up and told me to insert my Nav CD part 1. I used Nero but I couldnt follow the steps you listed completely because my version of Nero didn't have all the same options as what you listed. I didn't have a "File" "Open", so I tried the icon for "Open Projects" and when I selected the .iso file it opened it up in PowerISO instead of Nero. So I extracted all of the files that were in the .iso file and put them on my desktop and then added them into a new project in Nero and burned that. All of the database files are on the root of the CD, not in the .iso file anymore and it's still not being recognized. Although, when I first put the CD in, it did display "NAV CD" on the screen as if it recognized it.... I'm stuck. What should I try?

Here's what I did;
1) Download the ISO file
2) Right Click on the ISO file and chose "Open With"
3) Choose Nero
4) Place blank CD in burner tray
5) Click the "Burn" button

Worked like a charm.

Make sure that you burn it as a "disc at once" or "close disc" or whatever the terminology is, otherwise the disc will be left available for additional files to be written to it and the NAV head unit may not fully recognize it.

If the track was left open, there's still a chance to salvage that disc, by "closing the session". Nero has that capability, as do many other burning apps. It's worth a shot, just in case.

Here's what I posted last year on this. Check the size of the ISO images. Should be ~600mb each.

For those having troubles with the CD's, it seems there might be a problem with the two ISO images located on the MMZ_TimeZone Documentation thread. The two ISO images located there (East Coast, West Coast) are only 182mb each in size. If you burn a set of CD's from this distribution, the CD's will activate load in the NAV system, but at some point you will get a "Error reading CD" message displayed. I successfully used the two ISO files located on the Mike-In-Orange thread and those two files burned and ran with no problem, each being over 600mb in size. I used just standard CD-R pre-formatted disks. I also have a Sony Lightscribe CD/DVD burned that I used to add a custom laser etching image of my car on the front side of the CD. Sweet! So if you are having problems, make sure the ISO images are over 600mb before doing any burning.

Apparently my Nero program is different than all of yours because I am using a Vista machine at work. There is no menu bar for me to go to "File" and when I right click on the .iso file and choose "open with" it opens up Nero when I choose it but thats all it does---it doesn't proceed to open the file, it just sits there as if I clicked on the icon from my desktop to open the program. I guess I will just have to try this on my computer at home. It's a POS, so I don't know if I will have much luck there either but it's worth a try.

Oh and I did verify that the session was closed, so I know that's not the problem. Thanks for all your help everyone, I will let you know what happens on my home computer.

For those without Nero or Roxio, this is a decent program for burning....and it is free.

Make sure to choose the free version.

[quote=Mike-in-Orange]UPDATE: As of 8.31.2007 these seem to be working. Please read all notes below.
These disks are for the Infinity Modulus System only, they will not work in other NAV systems. So to share the wealth, so to speak, I have both sets of files sitting on my FTP server and links to both right here:

East Region Nav CD (622MB)
West Region Nav CD (467MB)

Be warned, the files are quite large and are in .ISO format. The following instructions should result in working disks - I tested both methods and produced working disks both ways.

Make sure to use the correct media for this project: CD-R media is the ONLY media that will work. CD-RW discs or DVD media of any type will not work in your Crossfire's NAV unit.

Windows Computers:
Using Nero Burning ROM:

1. Launch Nero and close out the "New Compilation" popup window
2. Select "File" > "Open"
3. From the "Types of Files" selector, choose "Image Files (*.nrg, *.iso, *.cue)" and then browse to the file you downloaded (either XFIRE_USA_0015.1.iso or XFIRE_USA_0015.2.iso) and select it. NOTE: you will not be able to browse to the file until you have chosen the correct file type from the dropdown menu
4. From the "Burn" tab, select "Finalize CD (No further writing possible)" and next to "Write method" select "Disc-at-once"
5. Select "Burn"
6. Once burning is complete the disk should be useable in your NAV system
quote]
For those members who do not have this software and wish to burn these CD;s, Nero has a trial version of this software available to use for two weeks. I down loaded it and used it and it worked OK.
A high speed internet connection is required or it will take too long.
Mike's instructions work, so follow them to the letter.
Go to this site and select the trial version of Nero 9
Nero - Nero - free downloads - latest updates and trial versions
I used the update that is available, it is probably not required but as its free why not use it.
The program installs an icon on the desktop 'Nero Start Smart' do not use it. Go to 'Programs'. select 'Nero', then select 'Nero 9' and from the drop down box select 'Nero Burning ROM' and then follow Mikes instructions, cancelling the 'New Compilation' window etc.
I downloaded these Navigation files from the `SRT6 Documentation' thread to my computer and copied them to the disks from the computer.
