Alpine Audio System
Alpine Audio System
I am thinking of buying an Alpine head unit IDA-X200 or IDA-X100. I see there are marine versions of these units available with silver face plates that look like they might match the X-Fire dash. Crutchfield has the IDA-X100M. Has anyone had any experience with these units? I would think they would be the same to hook-up.
Re: Alpine Audio System
I have the first generation Alpine unit iDA-X001 that I installed in my '05 Dream Cruiser. Thus far I've been pleased with the unit, though I wish Alpine had a way of allowing users to create their own wallpapers for the screen rather than use what they offer though their personalization website. Mind you with the X001, there are issues with glare and seeing the screen in bright sunlight even on it's non-dimming setting. Things would have been better had they used a matte screen rather than the highly reflective one. The X001 styling is in a medium and light silver that I think would work in a Crossfire just fine...at least better than the zillion black units that flood the market now. You can also get it heavily discounted since in head unit years it's practically a grandpa (mind you it came out in 2007...LOL).
I too have be contemplating getting the Marine version of the X100. Alpine has made several improvements to the button layout and logic plus I like the idea that the units are now Imprint ready, something the X001 lacks. My Crossfire is in Alabaster white so I think the silver and white style of the marine unit will match nicely. Plus it certainly can't hurt to have a unit that is even overengineered a bit for moisture and vibration.
Here's a pic of the Marine version X100 as shown on the Crutchfield site:

The Marine version will fit the Crossfire. It just has "guts" more suitable for a marine environment. Yes the bezel is a lighter silver that will match our interior. And no you can't get one yet, Crutchfield is saying mid to end of July now if then. I went with the X001. Its 130$ cheaper and its in my hands now.
