Question Removing a Sirius antenna

The previous owner of my car cleverly mounted a magnetic Sirius antenna on the roof of my car and it has scratched the @#$% out of it. That is another issue, though. Anyways, I'd like to remove the said antenna from the top of my car. Would I be inviting disaster by disconnecting the battery, cutting the single wire running to the antenna, and either capping the wire off or insulating it with electrical tape or something similar (should I have it done professionally by a car audio shop)?

if the Sirius radio/brain is not in the car any longer just cut the wire, it's not connected to anything else. do you know where the "radio end" of the wire is?

only go to the pro shop if you want to just give some money away.

The wire is obviously connected to something. You're correct in saying that the antenna/wire are not being utilized, though. What I don't want to run into later is having some water get in there and cause me some electrical problems. I do know where the radio end of the wire is. I think I see what you're saying now - the radio end of the wire and the antenna wire are connected. Is that correct? I figured the antenna was hooked to a power source or something (other than the Sirius radio).

there's only that one thin wire coming out of the antenna. if you can see the connector is not hooked up to anything, go ahead and cut it.

Thanks Mr. F. I think I'm going to take care of that this weekend.
