Default Started my audio project posting pics along the way.

The whole list of what I'm doing
1. Installing kicker ks600 coaxial behind the seat ( fabricated the mount outta the sub woofer encloser )
2. installing components in the door with tweeters
3. Re wiring all speakers
4. installing a 4ch kicker 350w amp and a kicker 1 ch 500w rms amp behind the gas tank in the trunk
5. Replacing the headunit with a kenwood kdc-x994
6. thorwing in 2 kicker cvr 10s in kicker box wiring it all up and done.

As of 9/17/2010 I have only gotten the ks600 coaxils done as the rest has not been shipping to me yet but the are one the way.

The Rewiring is done. the doors tweeters and rear speakers are all wired back to the trunk where within a few days will be hooked up to my 4ch amp. The wiring actully was pretty painless although i thought getting the wire though the door into the cabin would be hard but not really.

Hunts -

Thanks for helping me out - are your rear speaker subwoofers or midrange?

I would like to see how you mounted them back there...

The rear subwoofers are just that if you and i did hook up a full range speaker you will still only hear bass as the crossover in the amp cuts it down to 20-150hz im guessing

Id show you how i mounted them but it would be kinda hard to take them back out but ill try to Explain. The factory subwoofer mount has two parts the frist is a vent thats facing incabin and the othere, which is snapped into the vent part is the 6.5in mount for the subwoofer facing to the trunk or the gas tank. Now what i did was take the 6.5in mount part off and disgarded them. Since the vent part can be mounted by it self. I cut a 6in circle with a dremal tool out of the 4X6? vent. and used some bolts with nuts on the end to secure the new speaker to the newly cut 6in hole. I had to first mount the vent part to the frame and then slide the blots through the back of the vent part, so that the threads are facing outwards. then they kinda look like wheel studs with the rim off a normal car. Then i cut the carpet also to make a 6in circle and slide the speaker into the bolts and on top of the carpet. Twisted the nuts on and cut off the excess bolt with the dremal tool. P.S when I had to drill holes in the vent part to match the holes in my 6in kicker speaker so the bolts would line up. I know that all sounds complicated but its just hard to explain

That's the head unit I was considering installing - nice CD/MP3 player - Built-in Bluetooth - IPOD controls - preamps.....

Be interesting to read your review once you get it all wired up ....

OK Finally I'm done!!! Dyna mat installed kicker door speakers and tweeters both amps the sub woofers, everything sounds amazing! the sub woofers will almost knock the breath out of you. And the highs are great as well. The only problem is that there is a slight whine when the engine is on and corresponds to engine speed I'm thinking it might be a bad ground. Any ideas for a better ground than the chaise behind the rear finder. And way I'm very pleased took me a total of hrs to complete everything from start to finish

Yes bad ground. In addition you might want to add another or a larger ground cable from the battery to the chassie. the factory one is not very big once you start putting in aftermarket amps

You need to first start by grounding out your deck and if you still have the alternater wine the you need to make sure none of your rca's are pinched by plastic panels or have any screws ran through them.and if there is still wine...it's your deck..the ground on your rca's is bad from the factory.... I've found 1 in 5 decks have bad grounds..all makes and models..

Plus adding another ground to your battery is a good idea at the very least....and you should have quite a bit of extra power wire if you bought it in a kit..make a grounding kit for your car..never hurts..and your battery is sure to last longer too!

This may or may not be helpful but unpluging the rca from the back of the deck which is going to the 4ch amp stops all the whine its like those two rcas are the problem or maybe not i dont no im thinking its the ground to the 4 ch amp or because i have my rca running along side the power wires and what would you ground the deck to, would you use 16ga wire

definitely a ground issue.
i drilled a hole and tackd it to the frame for my ground (on amp).
also you should keep the rca running separate from ground wire and power wire not sure were you ran the leads but i did rca down drivers side power down the passenger side and ground was straight up from frame threw the floor board.

With so many of the electronics in this car being multiplexed, I'd recommend replacing the existing ground connection with something heavier rather than adding another one.

I am amazed no one has asked (that I have seen) is your power wire and signal wires running on the same side of the car?

If so, that is your problem 100%

Um..no.. honestly very, very rarely is that ever the problem. Unless he's either #1 running some retarded high power amplifier or #2 the power wire or rca's aren't up to par...ie..the power wire isn't heavy enough for the amplifier(s) power consumption...or the rca's shielding isn't that great..or the power wire's shielding is too thin or has holes in it

OK here's for EVERYONE.. The main problems with electronics in ANY car is 99% grounding issues. Whenever you start to upgrade ANYTHING on your car you should tackle the BIG three FIRST. #1 Battery to frame #2 Motor to Frame #3 Frame to Body. In addition to the big 3.. Battery to Motor and Battery to Body ALWAYS helps. 4ga MINIMUM wire should be used. This will provide all the extra grounding anyone will normally ever need..whatever stock grounds there are LEAVE THEM THERE!!! Unless they are in the way of you adding more.

Your battery will last longer, and your car will generally crank easier, your lights will be a little brighter, stock stereo a little louder, depending on your car you can gain hp and torque.. More grounds=More power supply=Better spark=Happy motor=Happy owner

some companies sell dinky 8ga kits for $100 don't settle for less than 4ga!

16-14ga wire should do the trick for your deck, it needs to be grounded to Bare solid metal... what gauge power wire are you using for both amps and how is it run? down the passenger or driver side?

I asked the question, because most people do use sub par cables or have no idea what shielding is. Before saying no and spurting off all sorts of ideas about how a grounding kit is going to give you more torque and HP, you should at least know which side of the car he is running everything
