Talking Here you go audio pros

My door speaker just went and want to replace both of them. I don't want a new head unit, subs or tweet. I have been looking at the alpine spr 17s type r speakers for the door. I notice people r switching the head unit as well, is this nessassary for the alpines to work? Is my alpine selection even a good replacement? I might go to best buy to get the speakers and see if they would put them in, is that a good idea Hahah? I need to do something soon because I'm tired of getting frustrated

The factory system is based on a 2 ohm design so if you stick with Infinity or JBL you can find that design in some of thier lines, don't know that others are doing this, some tried but failed. If you use a 4ohm design you will loose about half of the power output from the amplifier.

I went (and quite a few others) with:

Amazon.com: Infinity Reference 6032cf 6.5-Inch 180-Watt High-Performance Two-Way Speakers (Pair): Car Electronics

Very, very nice, especially for this price...it's kinda' weird to have George Thorogood sitting in your lap. The difference from the OEM speakers is remarkable.

And be sure to read:

I did some research for the forum and found 270 uFarad best to my liking. It's a long thread, but go for it. Or not...

both are good and share similar design elements and will fit. I currently use both, reference from Infinity and JBL GTO are good choices without spending a ton of money
