Infinity 6032cf Reference speakers
So I decided to finally make the jump to the new Infinity Ref 6032cf speakers for the doors and holy hell, what a difference.
Those who said they would be a night and day result, they really are! I got them for 50 bucks from amazon for both of them and it was a steal basically.
Amazon.com: Infinity Reference 6032cf 6.5-Inch 180-Watt High-Performance 2-Way Speakers (Pair): Car Electronics
The stock headunit now sounds even better with them, and the bass and highs, and even mids are much much crisper. The overall quality of the sound has improved quite a bit.
I recommend more of you guys go them with, because the install itself isnt hard, just takes some patience.

I'm thinking maybe the Infinity Reference 6030cs...thoughts?
I kept mine connected. I can't even hear them after installation of these much more efficient (louder) speakers. The tweeters are swivel-mounted to point them UP directed at ones head. Where the ears are located. Work great!
So does our stock amp wire directly to the door speakers and directly to the tweeters or only to the door speakers which then have a crossover connected to the tweeters?
Directly in parallel, no crossover.
I left the stock tweeters connected, even though they are now kinda overpowered by the new ones.
I absolutelly love the sound though, they are so crisp and clear. The bass sounds epic, and I had to turn the bass down from the headunit hahahaha. Great buy guys, worth every penny.

I replaced with Kappas a while back and am so glad I did--got them for about the same price as the Reference models. I, likewise, get almost nothing from the from the stock tweeters, which is a shame. I'm now looking to do something with the subwoofers. Can't seem to get a definite answer from anyone on a set that require little-to-no mods to the stock bracket. Any leads?
Yeah. I just installed 6.5" Pyles with a bit of Dremel whittling. No improvement at all. To my ear, the X3 sized magnet is of no use if one must direct the signal to them through the OEM amp. I'm seriously considering installing a separate sub amp and run them direct from the Pioneer HU I have.
Ouch. The only reason I'm interested is sometimes I notice the stock subs struggling a bit to keep up with the high output of the Kappas. I have capacitors in the doors so most of the bass is sent behind the seats.
I'm more than happy with how the Ref 6032cf came out sound wise compared to stock. Now everything sounds so epic it's just perfect. Another thing I noticed, and I dunno about you guys, but after taking off the door panels during the speaker replacement, I solved another issue.
The plastic in the doors used to squeek and groan a bit here and there before the install, but after I took the panels off and put them back on again the squeekyness is pretty much gone. They feel more solid(?) in a sense. Anyone else run into this little scenario?

I do have some little squeaks on the passenger side which is why I originally started thinking about replacing the speakers....figured while I'm there
I ordered some dynomat to take care of it.

I did the same as meh03--I dynamatted all of the door panels while I had them off, which I would highly recommend. Still, the doors sound horrible when you close them with the windows down, but sound high-end so long as the window is up.
My headliner is dreadfully beginning to fall from the roof, so I fear a replacement (perhaps suede) is in order soon. On the bright side, it will give me the opportunity to dynamat the roof as well.

Not to hijack my own thread or anything, but I had a bit of headliner on the front edge start to want to peel away which I managed to glue back in place for now. Anyone know how much it would cost to have the headliner redone?
I replaced mine a while back. I think it was only about $120. The headliner has been good since.....but I also found that he broke most of the fasteners for the trim panels. Put it back together good enough for me not to notice until later when the panels in the hatch all started squeeking and coming loose. I finally tracked down the right clips, removed the panels, installed dynomat (since I was there), and reinstalled properly. It was a pain in the *** getting the panels back on...pour design IMO.
So my advise would be take your time to find someone who knows how to work on the xfire and pay a little more...or pay more and spend more time later like I did.
