That is the best and most comprehensive instruction and installation example I have ever seen.... I just purchased a 2007 Crossfire Convertible with 87,000 miles and want a bluetooth system. Magnatude what would you charge me to make up that complete system and send it to me for installation in Oklahoma. Great Job
Wow, what a difference in sound quality!
Enjoying every moment listening to all my music now. And I like the convenience and accessibility of being able to set equalizer (EQ) settings for music through my smartphone.
macsr, Welcome to Crossfire Forum!
Hope you're enjoying your '07. Post some pictures sometime.
If you know of a reputable car audio shop to do the installation for you, they should be able to replicate this Bluetooth (BT) install without any problems.
The idea for this mod is to introduce the new BT signal ahead of the factory amplifier and still have the use of the factory CD/radio with the use of a dual post dual throw (DPDT) relay.
I chose the Exile Audio EXBT4 Bluetooth receiver strictly for its sound quality performance, although you can choose any BT receiver of your choice for your system. There are 5 key players for this mod and they are as follows...
As of this writing, materials listed above can be purchased from any online retailer and shipped to your home. (For future readers, expect some items to be discontinued unfortunately) Assuming the experts at a car audio shop will be performing the installation for you, they will need the Crossfire radio wiring diagram shown below.
This diagram shows the audio signal wire color code and connection location between the CD/radio and factory amp where your installer would need to tap into.
(Right channel = YL & YL/VT)
(Left channel = BL & BL/BR)
solid color wires are your (+) positive audio signal
I used a set of male and female RCA audio connectors where the audio signal wires were cut so at any point in the future, the system can be re-connected back to its original layout.
The relay is also prepped using male and female RCA audio connectors. Aside from (+12v) and (- GND) connections, everything is RCA plug and play. This relay will receive (+12v) power to toggle from factory radio to BT via Angel Eye push button switch located on your center console.
BT signal flow will go from : EXBT4 music receiver > LD-10 signal booster > Noise Suppressor > 275-218 relay > Factory Amp
CD/Radio signal flow will go from : Factory radio > 275-218 relay > Factory Amp
Music selection, EQ functions and volume will be controlled through your personal Bluetooth player or smartphone. As a reminder, volume output varies from BT player to BT player. The LD-10 signal booster has adjustment ***** to trim or increase audio output signal to match the Crossfires factory systems max volume.
There you go, macsr. Good luck on your Bluetooth mod!
Interesting topic, seriosly. I wish I have same level of expertise but... Anyway I think people here could find some helpful information about sound equipment in general click site and this will push someone to do some amazing tech stuff.
I noticed your modification and I was wandering, do you need the Bluetooth A/B switch? Is it also possible, just to connect the bluetooth module direct on the 'line in'off the amplifier.
