faint alarm sound

Default faint alarm sound

No always but more often then not now, I hear what sounds like a faint alarm sound. It is not very loud and sounds as if its coming from passenger side...It wont do it when i am not driving so hard to pin down..And if my fan selector switch is in off it seems to stop . any ideas? driving me nuts 2005 roadster.

My guess is the batteries in your alarm siren are shorting out.

whare would i find the alarm at...can i just replace batteries.

No, they are soldered in and probably leaking acid. The alarm is under the cowl in front of the windshield. Many just unplug it because no one pays much attention to them anyway however you can order a new one for about $150.00.

It was 'sort of' affectionally called the 'cricket on crack' (if it is the siren). There are a number of posts about it dating back quite a few years. Many do unplug it, quite a few just replaced it or in many cases just wired a different mini speaker into a relay to annunciate the lock/unlock, and to heck with the siren function.
