As has been reported here, just about any battery from a reputable source will provide the required power needs for the Crossfire. You just need to decide on how much you want to spend, with the major factor being a conventional battery versus an AGM version. I for one can't see the cost benefit of buying an AGM battery. Like pizzaguy stated, you'll probably end up needing a new battery every 4-6 years; some get longer service based on driving habits and overall care. Does the average car owner spend the time & effort to keep their car's battery in tip-top condition - none on the block where I live, including me! I'm convinced "maintenance-free" batteries exist for this fact alone!

For the record, last year I installed a Super Start Extreme 48 H6, P/N 48EXT from O'Reilly's Auto Parts. Paid $192.79 for the battery. What was my criteria - O'Reilly's was closest to my house, battery was in stock, price was under $200, ordered online, picked up in store 15 minutes later, Crossfire ready to roll 20 minutes later (I'm a little older now)! It doesn't get much better than that!

Maybe a general alternative for those who do not drive their xfire's somewhat regularly and only used them in the warmer months is to install a HD disconnect switch as I have indicated in my post #13. Doing this would allow considering a lower cost battery to be used. I do not recommend using the on-off screw type disconnect that attaches to the battery post. The recommended HD switch will make long term storage very simple and safe. As an option, a battery tender can still be used to help keep the battery at peak power.

I've had a Autozone Duralast Gold going on 5 years and will replace soon before it fails. Keep the protective terminal covers for a clean look

I have AGMs in all three cars, I like them for their lack of corrosion.

I see a real problem with that advice: people will buy the first $4.99 item they find. Such cheap crap will disconnect or go resistive while the engine is running -taking the battery out of the circuit, endangering some very expensive modules.

The battery is your secondary voltage regulator and "brute force filter", operating the car without it is dangerous. A TRUE heavy switch is fine, EMS and some Fire vehicles have them.
