INTERIOR TRIM Different finish.
I recently had the BEZEL Trim Plate around the radio replaced because it separated from it's base.
I noticed that the new bezel looks like it's got a clear coat over it (glossy) and doesn't really match the other silver trim on the lower console (a duller finish).
I asked the Service Manager to look into it and let me know if anything has changed on this part. He checked the part numbers on the original part and the VIN number with DC and was told that it was the correct part and color code.
My wife even noticed that the new part was shinier and I didn't say anything about it to her (so it's not my imagination).
Has anyone else had a problem like this. Any suggestions?

Fritzauf, It sounds like they installed a 2004 trim plate on your 2005 Crossfire. Good Luck trying to get them to order you the correct part. As far as they're concerned, it probably looks just fine.
But maybe you're one of the lucky XF owners who has a dealer that's willing to go the extra mile to satisfy their customers. I hope so.

I noticed a difference between the '04 and '05 interiors when I was test driving the cars. One of the reasons I bought the '05, at a higher price, was the lack of the high gloss on the silver trim pieces. I liked the almost stainless finish on the '05 much better.
So, long story short, you have a trim piece for an '04, which had the glossy interior pieces. Look through the photo gallery and pull some photos for comparison. I have a two interior shots, in the gallery, that may help convince the dealer.

I had this problem when the dealer sent me a replacement bezel for my scratched one. first one was glossy and I had to send it back. They opened the second one and checked it before sending it and it was perfect. Take it back and have them reorder, it should match the rest of the interior. If they cant get it right I can hook you up with my dealer. They took care of me and i'm 600 miles from them.

i had the center console replaced and it is only currently available in the matte finish ('05) as a replacement part. the silver parts in front of the console area only come in the gloss finish ('04). my guess is two different suppliers.
the dealer has ordered the upper console pieces twice... and they keep coming in the gloss finishes. there is only one part number per piece... no separate part number for the different finish (matte or gloss). the dealer stated he would give me a call this week with his findings. he is asking the supplier to pull in stock pieces to find the possibility of a matte color.i'll keep you up-to-date.
Andrew, You are a photo Genius! Sorry that you're having the same problem. That photo clearly shows the difference. Please keep me advised. THANKS!! If they don't get this right I may have to borrow your M4.
UPDATE!! The dealership has installed the new bezel with the correct (satin) finish. It's beautiful!
My dealers certified Crossfire Tech. also own a Crossfire and did a GREAT job installing it. Thanks Madtommy!

FYI -- I just replaced my scratched 2005 silver shifter bezel with one from a 2004. To dull the glossy finish, I used Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound, which is like a super-fine wet sanding. Worked well, and the resulting color matches.
Because there were a lot of 2004 XFs made, I suspect many other 2005+ owners replacing interior parts with used ones are running into this minor problem too.

I was not aware that there was a difference on the finishes of the Crossfire interior trim until Saturday. We were at a BBQ GTG for the Sourther Ontario Crossfire Owners host by Norm in Whitby. Regardless, Beaner (Bryan) was kind enough to install a QT switch Module from Rudy Compart. Bluecoupe, (Steve) was out supervising the job when he mentioned surprise that my '05 SSB Raodster had the glossy trim finish. He said that this was specific to the '04 models, hence his surprise.
My vehicle (a 2005 SSB LTD Roadster) was manufacured in 03/04. I personally like the glossy finish.
BTW, the QT Module works great! Nice job, Beaner and not a scratch on my interior bits. Thanks! Anyone with a roadster should install this mod. Very Cool. was able to stop it and vacuum/clean the storage area. It was good, but now is as clean as a whistle!
Thanks for developing that, Rudy. Now, what work on that backup camera? If for no other reason, could be used to prevent the passenger from strainning their neck when turning to try and see what happened to the Cobra that the V8-Crossy left behind when passing through 3rd gear at about 105 mph!

Sounds like Karmann had some "left over" 04 interior pieces laying around when they started Roadster production. Just makes yours even more "Rare".
I've always liked the glossy finish on my Cedar/Slate interiors center console too.
