The above link shows a picture of my wife and I at our son's grave site, it was taken on 2-20-2007 by a member of the Patriotic Guard Riders. The riders had met us there, and presented us with a high quality, hand crafted, flag case for our son's flag.
I used the photograph to express my PERSONAL SENTIMENTS concerning my son's death.

I cannot believe I have not seen this post before!
FirebaseD... Being in the military myself I am sorry to loose such a great soldier and friend, Even though we never meet, military members have a way of sharing things most cannot do.
I will pray for Chris and for the rest of my brothers overseas fighting for OUR FREEDOM. I have been fortunate to not have lost friends that have deployed. I thank you for raising a son that was proud to be an american and fight for all of us!
Xfire1, Your tribute was beautiful!
We are not liked by some...
Hated by oppressors...
Spit on by those who do not understand what we do...
But the ones that love us know our sacrifice and that is all that matters,
that they and all are FREE!

"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us."
Therefore "Thank you my brothers and sisters, and may God bring a blessing upon you, as you have done for me, my wife, and my son."
My friends I find myself working late into the nights to keep the message that my son Christopher Mason was on this earth, and that his actions counted.
I ask one thing of my friends on this forum and that is please share the following linked video with everyone you know. Email it, paste links to it, just tell other people about it, that is all I ask.
If you believe God has placed us on this earth to do his work, then watch this video of my son, Chris, as he speaks a message from God. I watch this video and I think to myself "that was my son's true purpose for being borne." It was to bring the world this last message before he was killed 44 days later in combat. In the video you will also see my son grow into a man.

Note - I did not make the video, it was done by the church (Life Church of Mobile Alabama) in memory of Cpl Christopher Edward Mason, but God's words are the stars.
Thank everyone on the forum for your kind comments. After reading so many kind words of love I can now, more then ever before, say I am proud to be a member of the Crossfire community.

When I jumped aboard the crossfireforum, I was battling a disease that forced me to retire for a bit (I am well now). This place became my online home, "my block"... work place... at times, battle grounds over moral territories...and lastly a refuge.
I met alot of good people here... and befriended with 6 or 7 members... and this is how and when I was introduced to the life of Christopher Edward Mason.
Initially, I did not know what connection you had with "Chris Mason". However, I did know there was some a very friendly bond between the 2 of you. At one point I thought "Chris Mason" was FirebaseD until the math didn't add up... especially when you stated you were not AND a VET from the Viet Nam era.
Ok... so Chris wasn't FirebaseD. So more than a year had past, during which I would visit your: http://imageevent.com/firebase... see the updates and videos... they were always informative and entertaining... and the photos left me with always the same question... who is this guy "Chris Mason" This kid "over there" defending this Nation... it was like a 'where's Waldo" for me...
The photos project such a powerfully spirited person. A person who paused his life, a Professional Bull Fighting career... a true personality to behold. A man of God and an American Soldier... and a hero to my son who followed... http://imageevent.com/firebase as well.
Then December 25th, 2006... early in the AM I logged onto this forum (after "leaving the block" for 5 months or so) to get updated with the forum... and this is when I found out the news of Soldier Chris Mason and that "Chris Mason" is FirebaseD's son... This was a double stab for me... when I broke the news to my son (16 yo, xfire1a) later that Christmas morn... he grew pensive and we decided to head out to pinelawn Long Island National Cemetery Farmingdale, NY where a close family friend who met the same fate in iraq 2004... is resting in peace.
Seeing what Chris has done through out his lifetime and defending his beliefs and country, we can only thank you, your wife and family for raising this noble soul of Honor.
By the way Brother, Christopher Mason's presence and actions here on this earth... counted!!! Through the word of God and word of mouth Chris made this a more beautiful world...
Again I/we thank Chris and his Family a world of thanks!!! (hoorah!),

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Please know that we all greatly appreciate the bravery of your son and what he did for the security of all of our freedom especially for those of us who cannot. He is a TRUE HERO. I will keep your family in my prayers and may God give you unfailing strength to guide you through this trying time. He will be remembered.

Firebase ... Same for me, my thoughts go out to you, your family and your son, Chris on this Memorial Day.
Rest in peace.
Rest in peace.
Firebase,
I'm retired military and spent one tour in Vietnam w/ the Army Rangers.I know what sacrifice is but have never lost a child. Chris will be in our families prayers along with the rest of your family. Without the sacrifice of these young men and women, our freedoms would be just words studied in history books, never to be realized again. God bless your family, Chris and the men and women in uniform.

The emotions that I see here prove to me that your son did not die in vain. I know he is resting in peace. Bless you, your son, your family and all those others that serve.

May God bless Chris, I am sure he has placed Chris at the doors of heaven, he is an angel now, one of Gods army who serves and protects each and every soldier who stands in Chris' shoes now. He is every soldiers gardian angel. May God bless you and your family too. I will take a spin in my Xfire for Chris. Thank you for Chris.
I searched for a thread which would suit the video clip I have posted below.
I know this is an old thread but it is also a memorable one.
As we begin 2011 lets remember the men and women fighting for our country.
