OK - Ready To Purchase - Need Opinions!
Hello everyone. I just found a 2005 XF Ltd. automatic with 6,500 miles for $19,000. I was looking for a gray Crossfire with red interior. I drove an hour and a half to see the car only to be told it went to auction a few days ago (serves me right for trusting the Internet). We talked some figures and they agreed to pull it from the auction site and bring it back to the dealership. They lowered it from $21,000. This was a VERY small town Jeep dealership and the where admittedly very nice and said they could never get that at auction. So, I think the pending auction worked in my favor toward a lower retail price - they had nothing to loose. I have YET to see the car, that will happen this week. I'm under no obligation and no deposit was needed. The vehicle still has the 3/36 - 7/70 warranty left on it. I think this is a pretty good deal. I'll reserve judgment until I see the car in person. Thanks for any input/opinion!

I test-drove an SRT-6 before I got my '04 coupe. Some days on an open stretch of highway I think of having that extra power, but I had to weigh the cost. The SRT I looked at was $27,000, which now I see is a little high, but either way, I ended up paying $19,500 for my coupe. I decided I didn't need a supercharger, the suspension and all to go along with that. As far as the looks, I like the SRT rims and bumper better, but not the spoiler. And I don't know how functional the Nav actually is. So for me the extras of a SRT wasn't worth the extra few grand. But I think 19k for a LTD is good.

I also agree with spending a little more and getting the SRT-6.
I really wish I would've just spent that little bit extra and bought one when i'm driving and really wish I had a tad more power.
(Not a tad, a whole lot)!
If you can afford it, get one. A rare, fast, nice car... that's kind of cheap for what you get.

I guess it depends on what you really want. If you want an Auto then get an SRT-6. It's a shame the SRT-6 doesn't come in manual. I think a lot of MT SRT's would have sold because this car was designed to be thrown around with the manual tranny. It feels more sporty to me.
Anyway, $19K is a hell of a deal. If I was looking at a Auto I probably could have gotten mine for less but it was the only manual in the area so my options were limited. You won't be disappointed with either one and if you like the looks of the SRT you can easily get the bumper and rims put on but the LTD is a very well put together car that shouldn't be snubbed at due to it's lack of power (which now can be re-gained with an ECU tune).

its insane how cheap these cars cost. i don't see why anyone would buy a base solstices, sky or miata over the crossfire. 20k for this car is insane, i think. i still wonder if you can bolt a manual tranny from the base up to the srt-6 motor.
