Default Newbie here, just checking in

Hi there,

I just purchased an '06 crossfire coupe and expect delivery next week. I am so excited. I have always loved the looks of these cars but couldn't afford one. Just sold my SVT cobra and saw the awesome deals on Ebay. $18,500 is a steal.

Anyway, can someone point me in the right direction to add another 30-40 hp?

Thanks and this forum is amazing.

Try SpeedInnovation, Evosport, & Renntech. Many on here have gone with SpeedInnovation ECU upgrades and love it.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the club.

Not sure if you're interested, but over 20 of us Crossfire owners/members are getting together in Detroit, MI for the Woodward Dream Cruise in August. Here is the thread that will tell you all about it:

I wish...it was a '97 triple black SVT vert with 4,800 original miles. I collect cars and fell in love with it last year. Bought it from the original owner and then was offered $2k more then I paid for it so I sold it. I never even test drove my Xfire as I bought it sight unseen and will fly out next week to pick it up. I usually buy extremely low mile original muscle cars of the 80's/90's (Z28 GT SV etc...) so I am curious to see how this thing drives. My expectations are in check. However, I think I will be pleasantly surprised.

Sounds to me like you got a base model.

IMO The Limited is much more worth it... but the car has got style. 8-)

It is a base model but for the price I paid I can't complain. Up in Canada the car retails for $41k plus 14% taxes so you are looking at $45-47k off the lot. This car is only $26k Canadian with all the taxes etc...

Out of curiosity, what is the main difference between the limited and the base coupe?

Cheers.

Base comes in black only w/gray cloth interior, manual trans, no Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), all black trim (instead of 'satin silver'), etc.
Limiteds have leather, TPMS, choice of auto or manual trans, other colors, etc.
Although Chrysler.com may better explain it than I.

good choice on the base ... since its all black you won't have to paint the trim like on the limited (so out of place) ... and if you want leather you can buy SRT-6 seats for $400 dollars and have better ... the TPMS system is a big limiting factor on changing the wheels so that's one less piece of trouble for you.

the speedinnovations chip adds a real world 19 hp / 19 tq so that will be your first bet ... magnaflow just came out with a exhaust system and the intake system can benefit from drop in K&Ns or larger air boxes altogether such as the ones found on the SRT-6 (they drop in nicely). Evo Sport makes a set of under drive pulleys.

that will probably land you at a +25 - 30 hp conservatively speaking ... can't guarantee even that as few have gone that far with the car.

the base coupe doesn't have the following (compared to a limited):

- no cupholder
- no homelink
- no "crossfire" nameplated stainless steel door sill plates
- no storage net on passenger side footwell
- no storage nets behind both front seats mounted on the bulkhead at the bottom
- no silver cigarette lighter
- no tire pressure monitor
- no aluminum rubber studded pedals
- no power seats
- different seats altogether with adjustable headrests
- no leather seats
- no heated seats
- no 6 speaker 240 watt infinity modulus radio (base just has a 4 speaker stereo with black ***** and no amplifier)
- no fog lights
- no silver trimmed speaker grilles
- no satin silver finish exterior windshield frame, side fender vents and door handles (all black on base)
- no chrome finish on exhaust pipe tips
- no automatic transmission option
- no color option other than black clearcoat
- no interior color option other than black cloth
- no gas strut on glovebox door (this strut is on the limited creates a slow opening door rather than just dropping open)
- no heated exterior mirrors
- no cabin air filtration system (base just has a simple recirculation feature)
- no floormats
- no touring gear (luggage)
- no painted engine cover

Welcome, By the sound of it you bought your '06 in the states, did you look into the warranty, when looking to purchase mine a sales man told me I could not transfer warranty. I didn't believe him but it is true, once you cross the border and register in Canada all Chyrsler warranties are null and void. Maybe this has changed but look into it. There has been some threads in this forum regarding other warranty options, PS. if your near Ottawa, you can be in Detroit for the Woodward cruise 10 hours 9 if you drive the Xfire. Good Luck.

wow, i had no idea there was so much difference. i'm glad they only had limited models when i got mine, i might have regretted it being that at the time i was looking for the most stripped model. btw, the auto trans option is not a setback to me with the cars. i love my stick.
