Default Post your winter wheel/tire setups. Need help finding fitment.

Hey guys,

Just trying to price up a set of winter wheels/tires. My fiancé and I are most likely getting into a crossfire very soon and I want to be ahead of the game when it comes to her winter setup.

Any brand/model/size/price/PICS info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey guys, well I just bought the car of my fiancé's dreams. A yellow crossfire convertible. She's in love. But I only have about 1.5 months to find a snow wheel/tire setup.

What am I looking at? Is it easier than I think? My SRT8 was a nightmare because of the HUGE brake calipers. What do people use for cheap cheap 18" wheels all around for crossfires?? The dealership is throwing a set of snow tires in, but I need to tell them the sizes I want (looking to you guys for help)!

Thanks!!

Wish I could advise, but mine gets put up for the winter.
There is a winter set of wheels/tires for sale on the forum. You might want to look at those to see what sizes, etc. they used. I think a few members put winter wheels/tires on theirs.
Good luck and congrats on your purchase.

Good idea. I got the sizes now. And I"m having him look for Blizzak LM25's because they appear to be the best that will have the right sizes.

Thanks!!

I'm in the same boat and am looking for cold season tires.

Living in Tennessee and spending time in Kansas City, I need tires that can do it all.

From reading the forums, these 2 are sounding like the best choices... still researching.
I'm keeping my beat up & scratched stock rims.

- Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
- Eagle F1 All Season (NOT GS D3)

Most important to me is longevity, noise, price, performance, in that order.
Since I don't tune and just drive, performance is less of an issue.
Being able to safely get from point A to point B on city and interstate roads is most important.

Thanks.

Any further suggestions? I simply don't know the science of tires and will end up buying the expensive Michelin A/S if I don't find something that better fits my needs.

Again, " Most important to me is longevity, noise, price, performance, in that order."

Thanks.

Is this a good/bad/ok price?

NTB (National Tire & Battery)
2 Front: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 225/40ZR-18 88Y DIR $232.00 ea
2 Rear: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 255/35ZR-19 92Y DIR $289.00 ea

Total installed, after shop/disposal fees & after taxes is $1,260.00

My regular mechanic/service center wants $1,592.00

Firestone wants $1,426.00

The Chrysler dealer I'm not even going to bother with.

I live in Wisconsin, so I need to deal with snow a lot. I generally run summer and winter tire setups for my cars. I just got an SRT-6 for my wife and it has summer-only tires. For this car I decided not to get snow tires because they rarely come in all that useful, even here. Besides, last year I got rear-ended twice in my Jetta because I could stop and the idiot tailgating me couldn't. It seems to me that even in the winter the vast majority of your time is spent on clear roads. With Snow-start, traction control, stability and a torsional diff, I really don't think that snow tires are necessary for this car. Instead, I chose aggressive all seasons with very high light snow and ice ratings. Deep snow ratings are fairly useless since most people can't even get their cars moving in deep snow, in which case you have nowhere to go either. I decided to go for tires that would last longer and perform better on the dry pavement, but could perform well in the snow. Here's what I got, I'm installing this weekend:

2 225/40ZR-18 Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position (front)
2 225/45ZR-18 Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position (rear)
4 18x8 Sport Edition ST4 SML
4 Retaining clip for al-p ring +
4 Required centering ring
4 Sport edition st 75mm cap

I ordered from Tire Rack.

I've narrowed my choices to:

- Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
- Eagle F1 All Season (NOT GS D3)

And I'm beginning to lean towards the Eagle F1 All Season. I'm thinking I'll be happy with either set, but I'm also thinking the Eagles will have better winter handling and last a little longer with a wear score of 420.

ADR M-Sport
18 x 8.5 front on 235/40/18 Continental Extreme Contact
18 x 9.5 rear on 275/40/18 Continental Extreme Contact

No spacers in the front, 20 mm hubcentric spacers in the rear. needed shorter bolts up front and longer in the rear. Also had to clearance some of the upper ball joint bolt end in the front to prevent tires from touching.

Best winter traction without going pure snow tire one can buy .. no compromise in the corners and still enough grip in the snow to get home.

I have a Liberty CRD company car and Wrangler spare car now so no longer need them so anyone local want a full setup with spacers and proper length bolts with less than 9k miles on the tires (highway commute mainly straight) i will let it go for $999 ... would like a local buyer as shipping costs are prohibitive.

Hi All,

I am in the Toronto are and we use Yokohama AVS Winter in 225/40-18 all around on MB replica rims.

This is the size recommended by Chrysler. I don't bother with the TPS sensors on the winters, mind you the steering wheel blocks the light so it doesn't bother me.

The pictured rims are the ones we use in the winter.

Ron
