Default Another winter storage question

I've read that you should change the oil and oil filter before storing your car for the winter. My oil was changed 700 miles ago. Do I need to change it again even though it has such low mileage?

I would think that you will be fine, no need to re-change the oil/filter IMO.

I will piggy back on your thread, for winter storage(if thats OK). Due to tight space in my garage I can't access the right hand side to jack the Crossfire up and install jacks to take the weight off the suspension! However it has been suggested that the minimum I do is to roll her up onto wooden blocks to prevent any interaction with the cement floor, Styreen has also been suggested. Question what should be the min thickness under the tires??

I would say 1/2" to 1" will work. The foam I use is probably ~ 1/2" thick.
Put a tarp (or 2) under your car (on the concrete), and the foam or wood on top of the tarps.

Thanks for the reply, RPM.

Can anyone recommend a car cover? Has anyone tried one of those zippered car storage bags?

radmanly - I purchased a Mopar cover through http://www.wyckoffchryslerparts.com/
The fit is superb. The material is kind of like a windbreaker.

My father-in-law covers his Vette w/a soft cloth cover and it collects a lot of dust.
Just depends on what type of cover you are looking for.

OK what is everybody's trick to keep mice out of it ? I have put Bounce dryer sheets in and around and of course D-Con around, but that is one of my biggest fears. They can do a lot of damage.

Is the inside sufficiently soft that it won't scratch the paint?

Not sure. I guess I would put mouse traps or the like underneath or around it.
You might want to Google that question and see what some of the collector car guys do. I found some good links a while back (they are posted on here somewhere, can't remember where though).

I think so. Though I will put a coat of Carnauba wax on before I cover it for the winter.
It is not as soft as a cloth cover, but as long as your car is clean and has a good coat of wax, I would think it would be fine.

After a little more research, I decided to order a cover from Car Cover USA. They have covers specifically designed to fit all Crossfire models and they cost less than the Mopar cover from Wyckoff. I'm also going to get a CarBag to keep critters out. CarBag doesn't list the Crossfire but I believe sizes M1 or M2 should fit. I'm going with the larger M2 just to be safe.

i'd change the oil after the winter. not for the need of changing it but as to not completely dry start the motor.

I plan on starting it at least once a month over the winter.
