Crossfire Tire Pressure

Yes depending on where you live, those caps can corrode and fuse together onto the stem itself, chemical reaction between two metals. I have had to replace a lot of sensors for this same problem, when I was wrenching at the dealership. Also tire pressure monitors will set off the light when pressure drops two or more pounds of air, and most systems have to go through a drive cycle in order to reset the computer or the TPS module.
Questions:
- Why did my one tire wear out so quickly -
Alignment. Your new tire will wear the same if I am correct.
- Tire valve caps fusing to stems seems a little weird since they came on the car?
Taking them off now and then when checking the tire pressure should solve this. A little oil would not hurt as mentioned above. They are not just bare aluminum, they are treated. Salted roads will do this.
- If I had run with 42 lbs in the rears would that have extended my original tire life?
No, it would probably have worn out the center of the tread first.

I had the same problem of fusing metal caps to my valve stems on my 04. Where is the best place to buy new sensors? Ome of my valve stems broke trying to get the cap off. Two others seem to be frozen. Any suggestions for removing them without damaging the sensors and stems?
now that we have established the pressure.....what goes into the tire.in other words, is the recomendation to us air or do some use nitrogen?
what is the advantage of either if there is any?

You are a big boy now and unless your mother checks them, you should check them regularly.
