Well the thread already mentioned the question...

would 2 oem jacks be able to lift the crossfire in the front just enough to remove both wheels? for a quick swap to a winter set up?

 

I don't see why not, if the jacks can crank high enough they lift the whole side off the ground.

I have not actually tried, but my small floor jack when placed at the front jack point can easily lift the entire side of the car.

Whether you use a floor jack or the OEM jack(s) ... remember safety... ALWAYS use jack stands and something to block the rear tires with. We don't wanna read about your melon getting "Gallaghered"

thanks i just used an oem jack and a 10 year old lexus jack got the car up fine...

i did not block the rear tires, but i dont plan on putting my head in there and if I loose a hand it is okay i got a spare..

 

that's a beefy little jack and it has good mechanical advantage with the screw, but I agree the plastic acme nut is a little scary to risk your life for.

 

Two jacks will lift the weight but it will not be stable! Be very carefull and don't try anything that rocks the car. If you are asking this so that you can do the brake job you mentioned yesterday, your car will probably fall of the jack when you go to losen the caliper bolts or put a wheel back on. Get some jack stands! Again weight is not the issue. the car can easily rock and fall off the jacks. I have seen this happen first hand.

Sometimes Auto Zone has 2 1/4 ton floor jacks on sale for $15.95. They are so much more convenient than using the Crossfire's on board unit. Jack stands are very cheap insurance too.

 

Help! I got a 2 ton jack and jack stands but I don't know how to use both! I jacked up the passenger side by the front jack point and it lifted the rear tire too, but I don't know where to position the jack stand so I can lower it down. I looked under with it jacked up and I can't decide where to put the jack stand. Better still, I'd like to know where to jack it up so I can put the stand on the jack points. Is there one location we can jack up the entire front end and put two jack stands under the 2 front jack points?

Lantana is correct... the base of those jacks are pretty narrow... I wouldn't want to be under there with only them stabilizing the weight of the car... If you dont want to buy jack stands, go to HOME DEPOT or LOWES have the lumber department cut you a few 10" long peices of 4"x8" joist lumber... it should only cost you $10... Then you can slide them under the car to use as "jack stands" if you put them in the form of a "T" on end you will have lateral stability so your head doesn't get "Galegered" as MMZ said...

 

I do a lot of home-work so lumber is in easy supply. The crossfire parks right in front of my Compound Miter Saw stand and right next to it is a stack of plywood partials and other cut woods. I guess throwing some lumber under the car would help, but I think the jack stands will work, along with some good chocks (made from timber scraps, natch!

I was surprised that jacking up the car at the front jack point raises the rear tire too.

Thanks for the response. I ended up doing my oil change on ramps. The posts on DIY oil changes were a big help. I hope to be able to contribute some in the future as I dabble in customizing my ride.
