For those who want to run paper filters, GermanAutoParts also has paper filters from all three manufacturers.

I'm going to resurrect this thread because I want to know if other people have started having the same problem as me. It seems that the trusty wix 57078 has been changed. It used to look like this....
Amazon.com: Wix 57078 Cartridge Lube Metal Free Filter, Pack of 1: Automotive Amazon.com: Wix 57078 Cartridge Lube Metal Free Filter, Pack of 1: Automotive

but all the sudden when i did my last oil change, i went to the store to buy it, and it looks like this now....
WIX 57078 - Oil Filter | O'Reilly Auto Parts

notice that not only is the glue around the outside different, but the end caps are different and you can't tell from the picture but the material seems to be different as well! I don't have one in front of me but if i remember correctly it felt like paper! Have they changed this design? It still seems to be one of the better filters out there for the XF but I don't think it's as good as it used to be.....anyone having similar problems?

It's also worth noting i've had tons of trouble finding it in stores. Oreileys seems to be the only place still carrying that part number.

The Purolator L25277 is made in Germany by Mann, but does not have the Mann stamp on it.
Otherwise identical fleece filter.
You can often find these at AutoZone, Advance and O'Reillys

So as much as I appreciate all the links, I was mostly just asking if anyone knew what was up with the fleece filter randomly changing. Usually companies don't change a product completely but leave the part number the same. But I do appreciate the tip about the other part numbers.
