SRT6 guys might appreciate this link on doing the 6 spd swap

Don't be confused, this isn't a heady duty trans. A medium duty at best. Can only handle about 270ish lbft torque. I guess you could reinforce the gearbox with additional planetaries...

Re: NSG370 heavy duty 6 speed trans
Not from what we've been told by renntech, it's can handle 400hp. now you Jeep guys like to run giant wheels that probaly weight in at 80lbs each, while turning all 4 wheels at the same time, which is hell on trannies, due to all the forces required to turn those big doghnuts.
The slk38K put 480hp 420ft lbs throught its 6 speed, so it's a heffty trans.
thanks for the link, I found it interesting that the ML270CDI uses the nsg370, but it has a 5.0:1 1st gear. instead of the crossfire's 4.46:1

Re: NSG370 heavy duty 6 speed trans
I love their sense of humor, talking about smooth shifting into first and second. Mine is finally breaking in at 26k miles but it still does not slide easily from 1st to 2nd....
The NSG 370 six-speed manual transmission provides optimal shift quality, improved quietness and high quality. A new dual-ratio transmission shift-tower system allows packaging of the six-speed shift pattern within the existing Jeep vehicles, and it is tuned for optimized shift quality. For smooth operation the First and Second gears have triple-cone synchronization, the Third and Fourth gears feature double-cone and the Fifth and Sixth gears single-cone synchronization. Hard-finished gears allow for quiet operation. A multi-rail, steel-construction shift system delivers high strength and precision. The two-piece aluminum case with integrated clutch housing assures powertrain stiffness and light weight. The new First-gear ratio combined with six-speed step spread allows optimization of axle ratios for fuel economy and performance.

I am sure that article was not attempting to be humorous; none of my jeeps could even remotely considered smooth shifting. The transmission noise in every jeep I have ever been in also sounds like a cement mixer turning so the NSG 370 would definitely be a huge improvement over anything Jeep has had in the past
