Default Problems to resolve before warranty runs-out

Hi,

I am trying to put together a list of common crossfire problems that need to be addressed before the warranty runs-out. I started the list below. Please comment and add to the list. Thanks

Crossfire Common Problems
  • Rust under door seal weather strip
  • Transmission Fluid Weepage at plug
  • Fog lights replaced due to reflector popping off. New style replacements
  • Moisture in headlights fix or replacements
  • Seat Heaters
  • Wind noise fix
  • Cup Holder Replacement
  • Radiator fan TSB/Recall
  • Valve cover oil leak on drivers side

Differential whine.

Shifter pops out of first gear (these first two affected earlier cars so yours is probably going to be OK).

Radiator fan TSB.

Radio problems (doesn't power up completely - only displays Chrysler, memory buttons have a mind of their own).

There have been a couple of posts about a tear in the top along the rear window I believe, may want to check that on yours.

Can't think of anything else.

Don't forget the passenger side window regulator comes loose so when you close the door when the window is down you hear a terrible rattle.

Log onto the forum with your user name and password. The page heading will update and will now include a Search button. Hit the button and in the drop down menu put in "differential whine", "differential noise", or "humming noise". You'll call up a number of posts that describes this problem. I haven't gone through every one of them so I can't say which is the best to read so plan on peeking at a number of them.

ditto on the seat warmers. Mine has to go in shortly. As for the headlight lense issues. I don't have moisture. They just get this etching and haze after a while. I have been using some plastic cleaner and my Porter Cable and they sparkle. Only takes a few minutes.

I just had my lights replaced under warranty. Mine almost looked like they had tiny stress cracks in them. Not the typical fogging I have seen as they were still pretty clear, but if you turn the lights on or hit the blinker you could really see all of the tiny stress cracks (a LOT more evident with the amber light).

The new ones make the car look SOO much better...

For the trans, get under the car (after it is safely supported by jack stands or ramps) and look at the transmission. Look for any red fluid coming out of it. Usually when they leak, they drip - so you'll see it on your driveway or garage floor. It is a clear-red color like cherry cough medicine.

As for the oil leak, they are usually located at the front (closest to bumper) of the drivers side valve cover around where the valve cover meets the oil fill cap and/or where the valve cover gasket sticks out (look down towards the exhaust manifold).

The job seems pretty simple - but due to the warranty I let them handle it. From what I can tell, they did great. No greasy fingerprints, oil spill, etc...looks clean like it should!

My dealer does have an SRT6/Xfire certified mechanic though...
