6 spd shifter question...
so i was driving down to south houston to pick up my new home theater receiver and ended up stopping at a mitsubishi dealer that happened to have a graphite '04 6 spd on the lot. so, seeing as i'm inches away from deciding which of the multiple xfires to buy in houston, wcalvert and i stopped to look. got in did the normal check of everything: headlights, brake lights, turn signals, interior, motor, etc. then i went to check the reverse lights so wcalvert went to put the car in reverse and the whole thing (shifter ****, boot, and plastic panel surounding the boot) released from its desired location and was just... there. needless to say it took a minute to get the **** back on teh shifter and everything back in place...but this just boggled my mind.
i wanted to see if anyone else had encountered such an issue with their 6spd and if so what did you do to fix it?
because honestly, nobody wants to make a circle when they should have just backed up...

Yep. Exact thing happened to me downtown Chicago. But I found the locking pin and fixed it in the middle of traffic. If the shifter has ever been serviced, the ring that secures the locking pin in place can easily be overlooked and you get the dreaded Reverse Surprize when the pin falls out!
Easy fix though
