10 rungs on my ladder. Here, Here! Don't forget, only about 1/3 of the
populace supported the Revolutionaries during the American War of
Independence. Benjamin Franklin's own son, the Gov. of New Jersey
(I think), had his father Ben locked up in jail because the elder Franklin
supported independence and his son was a Loyalist. They supposedly
never spoke to one another again.
Best of luck to you in Iraq. Keep your eyes open, your head down and
your rifle loaded and ready. If you can, send us a dispatch or two while
you are in country, to let us know you are doing OK.

Sorry about your accident.
What year is your vehicle?
Are you serious that the insurance company is going to try to settle with you for 11K? or did I misread something?
Thanks

OK, I'm sorry, but I gotta step up to question this one. Here's a kid who was in WAY over his head on payments for a car he couldn't afford. He paid too much for the car only to find out prices dropped like a stone shortly after he bought it. He put a crap load of money in the car "improving it". He was making $700 a month car payments on this money pit. Decided to try to sell it to recoupe some of this money only to find out nobody would pay him anywhere near even HALF of what he had in it. So....what to do? .......... Hit the passenger side front of the car at a speed high enough to guarantee a totalled car. Totally destroy the car with no serious injury. (hey, we know these cars are safe) Leave the motor running while the life blood of his engine is gushing onto the ground until the engine burns up, just to make sure it's totalled....... there, no more problem! (gap insurance really helps here....) I know this sounds like a really crappy perspective on this story, but it's the first thing that came into my head after hearing about this. The pictures and his comments nailed it. (passenger side impact, perfect hit, and gap insurance) Insurance companies are charging you and I stupid premiums because of stuff like this. Hasn't anyone who has watched this guy's story unfold over the past couple months wondered what the deal was with this? I'm "total"y disgusted by the whole thing. (he should hope that his insurance company doesn't get their hands on all of his postings on this site)

Those are some unusual observations. Although things do point in that direction I don't think this was a planned accident.
He was also looking forward to returning to the Tail of the Dragon meet this weekend and had already paid for lodging etc.
Although it certainly lines up some facts and suggest a possibility I don't think this was planned.
Either way it his not really for us to pass judgment here anyway. It's his car and his situation.
Just my 2 cents

ok... lets put it this way guys last year i made 81k at work, this year my pay has gone up 12% do the math, you dont think i can afford the car? besides that i inherited over 60k when my dad died a year and a half ago which just sits in the bank waiting for me to buy a house (dont plan on doing that anytime soon). i have a 720 beacon, about 30k in my 401k, another 15k or so in mutual funds. you have no idea who i am or what i can or cant afford, how dare you come on here with your assumption and try to pass them as truth, i was planning on selling the car and paying the remainder off, and if i didnt sell it before i left for boot camp, i had storage already setup for it at my friends stereo shop as a display. and how would you know what in the **** i can and cant afford, or what my reasons are for wanting to get rid of it? and why would i do it right before the dragon? why wouldnt i strip the car first??? i have no ins. on any of my mods, because they refused to insure them 9 months or more ago, so i just put well over 10k at risk when i wrecked this car not to say i would be able to sell a damn thing for what it cost me to buy it. hell just a couple weeks ago i was down in southern md at a crossfire m and g , adding parts to it, like my intake, modified thermostat blah blah blah, and the motor was knocking i went and fired it up yesterday when i got home frome the gym and it wasnt, it was probably due to heat, but there is no water in the oil and the oil is still full so it didnt blow a head... repairable. i loved this car this is what i bought when my ex left me after 5 years of a relationship, this was my girlfriend, my love and spent so many hours doing things to this car that you would never be able to see let alone. why didnt i wreck my truck? its spring i dont need it anymore? i have about 3k in it and i have another truck in my driveway? i hate people like you, and the next time something bad happens to you, remember how great of a person you are, thats why it happened.
as far as the grille i thought i answered this awhile ago, i sold that grille shortly after the november dragon (decided it was just too much chrome) had my stock grille painted flat black, and ive been using that ever since, no i dont have that grille and i havent in some timel.

Hey kid, read your own post (a month ago!), you must think I just fell off the turnip truck. If you were so rolling in dough, why this? You are really full of crap. If you had ALL THIS MONEY.....(60K in the bank and an 91K/year job?) you'd have no problem getting a low interest loan for a house at any institution I'm aware of. Can't believe you're stupid enough to think people won't read your previous postings. Why didn't you pay for the car in cash if the interest rate is so high? What kind of a moron would give up an 91k a year job to enlist as a grunt in the military? (oh, and I see you're already trying to sell parts off the wreck, you certainly don't waste any time, nice....) Hey, whatever you say, dude..... I'm totally fed up and done with this thread.

lmfao! i was wondering when that was gonna come back to haunt me! its not that i need the money for a down payment its the payment itself. i bought my car before the prices drop and due to some stuff on my credit, that were all mistakes, i ended up with a high intrest rate. at the time it was fine, i figured i would just refinance when i got these issues straightend out. but when i went to refi the price had dropped so much that no one would give me a loan for the car so now im stuck with the payment. my car note is about $670 a month, plus my truck payment and insurance on 3 vehicles.... so i figured i would get rid of the xf and come back strong at a later date... with an srt 6! dont worry guys itll prolly only be for a short while until i get everything settled. but i will have an srt one day maybe in a year or 2 and it will be much sicker! i will be getting my celica back soon which used to run 11 sec. quarters and im building a pro street ford ranger plus my jacked up 07 silverado lol i have lots of toys still lol. but i need to get rid of the 700 dollar payment so i can get a low risk loan on my house and so i can feel secure in making my mortgage and be able to fix the place up some. dont worry one day one of you guys will be selling your car and i wont be able to resist! hell who knows after boot camp i might go and take all the saved up loot and drop it all on an srt!

Yup, I'm perfectly aware of what a 720 beacon is, which makes all his previous statements that much harder to believe:
"but i need to get rid of the 700 dollar payment so i can get a low risk loan on my house and so i can feel secure in making my mortgage and be able to fix the place up some."
He wouldn't have all these problems if he actually had a 720 beacon.......when I read his posts, all I see is pure 100% BS. Did you actually READ his previous posts??????........OK, I'm done with this thread, really....
note: edited for your satisfation, done with this forum also....thanks.

There are higher goals in this life than the mere attainment of money and
material possessions. I guess, that as a pessimist you are never in a state
of disappointment though you may be pleasantly surprised on occasion.
Me, though, I'd rather give the man the benefit of the doubt until there is
hard evidence to prove otherwise. It's the American way... Now, do your
due diligence and go find the evidence, or keep your potentially libelous
statements to yourself.
