Angry Freakin tree branches!

So I spent the night at my girlfriends house last night and come out this morning and see a huge tree branch laying across the back of my car and move and and found this:

There are a few light scratches on the roof too that can be buffed out. The big bummer is that when I got my insurance I didn't figure I'd be driving my car as much so I got a $1,000 deductible. Her stepmom called today about her homeowner's insurance covering it but they said that since the car was parked in the street owned by the town of Lewistown that her homeowner's wouldn't cover it.

No broken glass, just body damage.

Ouch - that really sucks !!

Perhaps the homeowner's insurance of whoevers yard the tree was in would cover the damage.

still a nasty dent, but the glass would have been a whole other nightmare... could you go after the town for that?

I am positive that the damage caused by a tree limb would be covered under "comprehensive" with your insurance.
Do you have a $1,000 ded on comp to ???

I don't really know what's going on with everything yet, I haven't really had time to look into it yet but I'm not sure I could go after the town because the tree is on her property and part of it. I'm not exactly an expert on this stuff though lol. And yes my deductible is $1,000 on everything. I could have paid for it not too long ago but I lost my job and my funds are getting pretty scarce.

Gary's right "falling objects" come under comp coverage but I think no warning shot said he had a 1000$ deductible. I don't think the 'ding doctors' would mess with it because its on a crease. Its a tough one to swallow, I feel for you. Dealt with this kind of loss all too often this summer.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about the accident and the job condition. Hopefully everything will work out.
Maybe a member in Pa. can help you out with some info on a good inexpensive body shop. I would help if I could.

Well, I go tomorrow for my estimate at Tri-Star in Huntingdon, PA. We figured the best way to try to get her stepmom's homeowners to compensate is to work around the agents so we called my insurance company and they will go directly to her homeowners insurance. Her agent said they wouldn't cover it because my car was parked in a town street and not on her property even though the limb was from her tree.

She should force the issue harder or get your insurance company to do it. If the tree fell on the neighbor's house they would have to cover that.

That's what were trying to do is skip the agents and let my insurance company deal directly with hers.

I just got my 05 roadster out of the shop for hail damage. The were able to do the paintless thing and it looks good. They could not do a couple of dings on the edge of the trunk with the paintless method and I feel certain your dent is too large and too close to the edge of a body seam. They will probably have to use a dent puller on it and do some painting. HTH.

This would be an impossible paintless repair. It's on a compound curve and the crease about an inch or so from the glass took most of the impact and that made it a pretty deep dent.

Tree damage and insurance is handled in a weird way in Maryland. If your tree falls on my house or car My insurance company handles/pays the claim. They have to prove negligence to get any money out of the offending person's policy. So you'd have to have a poorly maintained tree or a dead tree not just a branch that fell off for some reason. You might get lucky on this but my gut tells me the insurance company will tell you you have Comp, too bad you have a high deductible, you were the one that picked the deductible not them. Like I said I feel for you, life ain't fair sometimes. Hope is resolved soon.

I got my estimate today. It's $877.15. Thats not as bas as I thought for a professional job like they to. They'll take off the roof rail molding, rubber window molding and the rear quarter window, rear bumper, taillight, and rocker panel, fix the dent and spot paint the dent area and clearcoat the whole quarter panel plus buff out some light scratches on the roof from the same accident. The owner of the shop said he doesn't believe in cutting corners by masking. I'm confident in their work and them being a Chrysler dealer's in house body shop is a plus if they need to order something.

I can't really complain about the high deductible because I just turned 22 and I only pay $70 a month for insurance so I figure I save enough to deal with something like this as it comes up. I probably will lower it after this though.
