Default vent fan issue

was out running around with the wife today. had the a/c on for a bit. stop at a store, turn car off, then turn fan to off. when we get back in the car and start driving, fan is on off postition but is still blowing air. if i turned the fan on it would blow harder, but when i turned back to off, would still blow. it was blowing out the front vents at about the level you would expect from being on level 2. after about 10-15 min it finally stops blowing. anyone ever had a problem like this?

I am not sure as to how, but there is a feature on these cars, If you push one of the heater buttons when the car is off, The heater will run for a time. It should reset automatically with next start. you may have activated this feature. look in the manual, it should explain.

That feature is actually pushing the "rest" button after the car is off to dry out/clean the system. This would not cause the fan to blow at that level though.

yeah that's what I was saying to other poster...

This is definitely a separate issue, maybe just some faulty or lose wires. Did you recently have any work done?

the rest button is for the winter when the car is warm, it will blow warm air into your car for up to 30 minutes, its just enough to keep everything just about right inside for a quick trip into the store

It's also good for the Summer A/C smell. Airy out the system to get rid of funny smells. It worked for me, I even changed out my cabin air filter. This is the only thing that did the trick... (consistently for a month)

It sounds like you are not in recirculate mode and the air moving along the car (higher pressure) is trying to get into the car (lower pressure) through the inlet under the cowl. This is pretty normal in most cars I have driven, I wouldn't think it is a huge problem. Try turning the recirculate mode on and see if you still get the problem, you shouldn't because the outside inlet will be blocked off.

So do you press the reset buttom everytime after using the A/C?? Never use this function before.

I had my car stored for winter, and when I started to run the A/C there was a very foul smell. After numerous part changes and cleaners, this is the only thing that did the trick.

that definately wasnt the issue. the fan was actually blowing the air. you could hear it running, and i could turn it on higher but it wouldnt turn off. i did also press the recirc button with no change. the problem was gone then next time i started the car and hasnt been back since.

About three years ago I had a similar thing happen except mine was just the opposite. I turned on my fan and nothing happened the fan did not come on even when turning the **** on and off from hi to low but when I turned the car off and restarted it the fan was fine. I have not had a problem since just the one time.

I had the exact same problem you describe.

You are need of a new Control module(*****, Controls). They are known for this issue. Warranty or eBay.
