Default Limited MPG

Just got back from a small trip. 234 miles to be exact. Average speed @70 on expressway, and moderate driving off of it. Filled her back up and she took 8gals. Not too shabby. I went back to the stock air boxes and replaced the filters with the K&N's.

On my way to Woodward, about 320 miles, I got 31.2mpg. On the way home was a different story. A/C on and a few miles of 100+ mph and then about 80 mph, averaged 28.5mpg.

I was quite happy with the mileage. Its funny because my fastest car gets the best gas mileage. Figure that...

Around town I'm getting an average of 24.5 and the best I've been able to accomplish on the highway has been 25.7 running between 70-85 mph.

I believe the Xfire with a stick gets really good mpg for a sports car. I did 2500 miles from MI to CT and back in late May at 70-80mph and calculated 28.8 mpg for the whole trip. It regularly gets 27-28 on trips to Detroit (all highway and 360 miles RT).

I have seen a few mentions of people using regular and noting their findings. Not me personally, just leaving the possibility open.

PS: I just purchased my 2007 Crossfire Limited 6spd in Oyster Gold Metallic with Cedar leather today!!

how are you guys/gals getting 24-26 city!? I'm getting 20-21.

What rpm's are you cruising at, switching gears at, how heavy is your foot, etc.? I have the advantage by having a scangauge 2 to tell me my immediate/ current millage. Please help mr achieve these numbers, also on the highway! I'm using 93 octane, 6spd, stock.

When I drove from FL to IL, I was in 6th gear most of the time and I averaged it to be around 31-32MPG on Premium of course... I love it!

My SRT6 likes to drink the gas (might have something to do with a heavy foot too

No way I see it getting anything close to the advertised MPG.

I normally get 27 mpg.
Last week I made a run to Pennsylvania and back and cruising the interstate at 80 I managed 30.6.
The faster I drive the better gas mileage I get.
I wonder if I could sell that idea to the next cop who pulls me over for speeding.

6 speed and always 93 octane

This might sound like a dumb question but how do you work out the mpg.

Well when you fill up you have to reset the trip computer (holding the left stick down and bringing the reading go 0).

Next time you fill up... fill it up and note the gallons it takes to fill it up.

Then plug into this formula

(how many miles you went) / (how many gallons you put in) = Miles per gallon

I have only had the car about a week and am getting 22 MPG... I have been driving it pretty hard though with the ac on almost all the time. Plus I have the auto which does not help too much. Either way 22mpg is better than the 13/14 I was getting before.

I am going to shock a few people (see below) but during the summer on average I would get around 24mpg. This was a combo of higher speeds and sitting in traffic to get to work. Now that I am at school and I drive only short distances 1-5 miles at a time typically and at very low speeds (20-35mph) I am averaging very low mpg. Part of the problem is I have to idle a lot waiting for my girlfriend to meet me if I pick her up. Last fill up I average 17 mpg!!! This time will be better, but not much most likely.

PS I only use premium 93

You will need to do this for a few weeks to get a reliable figure. You can also work out how much each mile cost you too at each fill up.

There are two cars here - my Crossfire and the Zafira, which is a small people carrier (it’s actually a Vauxhall Astra base with a people carrier body). We’ve worked out that both cars have about the same mileage, which is reassuring as the Crossfire looks like it drinks petrol. I also have a better feel for how long I can go between fill ups, and it’s not that different to my previous car, which was fairly anonymous hatchback.

It’s mostly driving style and road/weather conditions which determines whether you get less or more MPG than the manufacturer’s figures.

I took a 2k mile trip to Wyoming and back this summer, and averaged around 28 mpg speeds from 70 to 80 mph. I kept a spreadsheet of which gas stations I stopped at, price per gallon and mileage. I thought perhaps I would figure out which station sold the best gas that way. I didn't find much of a difference. I also didn't find much difference between having the top down or up either.

My best mileage recorded was between MN and WI after stopping at a Super America with 33mpg with 93 octane, I figure the pump must have shut off early or something.

My mixed mileage driving back and forth to work is 25.5 over 22 miles, with 91 octane premium.

I have a base roadster with a 6 spd manual. I could probably get better on my way to work but stopping and starting is half the fun.
