Default $2,500 Help!!

First, read my first thread here:

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ad.php?t=28814

The dealer said they wanted to replace all of the lights that were on. They want to replace a air injection valve switch, ABS Control Module, and spoiler motor.

This is what I don't get. My TPS always goes on when I start the car. I know something is wrong with that. What is weird is, this problem doesn't happen for like a day after I disconnect the battery and reconnect it. Then it three different lights come and the spoiler button is flashing on and off.

If the spoiler motor needed to be replaced, would it NOT work at all? I have heard things like I need to reset the codes and possibly change out the transmission fluid. This could be causing it to go into the limp mode.

I really do NOT believe all three of these things went bad right away. No way. Please, if you know anything let me know. They have my car still and am going to wait till the morning till I go any further.

3 things at once like that would make me think it's more of a ECU or a transmission control module problem.

Yea, it sounds like computer to me too. Changing the 3 lights and wing motor sounds rediculous.

Change lights that are on?

Doesn't that mean they are working???

They need to find the REAL problem!

Same thing happens, plus loss of Speedometer, when you pull one of the fuses near the battery. I really don't remember which one, I stumbled on it by mistake at the dyno.

Check all the fuses.

Update:

They talked to the tech guy today and he thinks if we replace the ABS control mudule that it will take care of all of the problems.

Also, the removal of the codes didn't work. Do you think I should try re-doing the ABS control module?

I will ask them to check the fuses

So wait, what codes are you getting from the ECU? This is where you should start and work your way from there. If you aren't getting any codes, reset everything that can possibly be reset on the car and see what happens. You get these lights, but do the items actually work on their own? Did someone see if ABS engages for example? It certainly could be something with the dash.

It is for sure the Powertrain Control Module. The part alone is $1750. This sucks so much. I don't know what to say anymore.

That sucks. Can you get the module from MB for less?

Check every stinking fuse on this car with a tester. Do not look at it and make a judgment. These cars can do crazy things when a fuse blows. Try this before you spend $2000 on an ECU. My car blew the fuse for the alarm, and the stupid thing would not quit going off. I removed the battery and the alarm was still working. Finally I test a silly 10 amp fuse that looked fine and it was blown. Changed it and fixed everything from Door locks to the crazy alarm.

Well that wasn't taken care of yet. I have already paid for the part and the service. Can I get this thing fixed, pay the $150 and get that thing transfered still? If so, can I have them reimberse me?

Thanks guys.

i seriously doubt it, because i think you have to wait 30 days to mke ur first claim and if they find out u only transferred the warranty to get it the job done for free, they probably won't so suggest you ge ur warranty from a distant source (not the dealership)...what was the exact total....make sure that they guarrantee the labor ....meaning if that doesnt fix the problem, the money u paid is credited towards something else

I believe I had a similar problem with my roadster. A few weeks back my spoiler would not go down, the light inside the button was flashing, my convertible top would not go up and the check engine light, BAS/ESP and ABS lights were on. When I took my car to the dealer they had to test drive it for three days before all the lights and problems happened for them. All they did for mine was reset the computer and since then everything has been working just fine. Good luck!

I do have a warrenty on all parts and labor for this part. They checked all the fuses and they were fine. They also reset all the codes and that didn't work. They actually tested the part saying it was the problem. I am now going to get a warenty on the car. If I can't then I will sell it. Do you of a good place to get a warrenty? What is the process? Do I need to get it inspected?

I am pondering a question. Do I need to sell my car? I would rather not because it is in great condition and I have treated it like a baby. I just can't handle replacing parts like this anymore. This is nuts!!

I guess I can think about what the chances are of something happening again that you guys can not answer. You guys are great and I really think I can handle anything else that the car may throw at me. What other major electrical things can happen? I don't think I want to get a warrenty because the ones that cover electrical are really expensive.

What do you guys think?

Have you considered looking in a junk yard or at a dismantler? This might be difficult with regard to finding a crossfire (though there have to be SOME junked crossfires out there!), but maybe an ECU from a benz would work just as well as one from a crossfire?
