It is read this info you should be covered under the federal emissions law on used cars as long as it's under 8years/80,000miles. http://www.epa.gov/obd/warranties.htm

We are talking about the Powertrain Control module. I do not see it at all in the article. If soomeone could copy and paste it, that would be great. If this is true, I need to call the shop to have them stop quickly!!!

The powertrain control module is listed in the emissions warranty. I would check into it because it seems like the dealer is trying to get out of fixing it.

I have been trying to call Chrysler, but they are closed. I will keep trying back to see what they say.

Again, you guys are awesome. If this is true, then I will freak out with happiness! I will also freak out on the dealer, since that is where I brought my car into origanally.

Holy Crap it is true!!! Here's the bad thing. I have already ordered the part from the place where I am getting it fixed and they can not get their money back. I am trying to work with them so that I can get my car back to the dealer and have it fixed for free. All I need to do is get the powertrain warrenty transfered and everything should be great.

Geez I hope that I can get their money back for the part.

I would think that the repair shop could at least get away with just paying a restocking fee for canceling the part. Usually about 5% or 10%. Hope it all works out for you.

Here's the story. I talked to Chrysler on Friday and they confirmed that the part was under the 8/80,000 warrenty. I called the shop where the work was being done and they told me they already ordered the part and could not return it. They told me to talk with the dealer about reimbersing me (since I already paid for everything) for the work they have done. When I got to the dealer, I talked to serveal people before I got to speak with the service manager in person. I told him how horrible the service at this brand new dealership was. He was totaly amazed on how bad the service was and wanted to help. I didn't even get a survey. He looked and they typed in my email address wrong!! I told him how I was so upset at the guy that was waiting on me and said that was why I took it somewhere else. They could NOT give me a gurantee on the parts they were putting in (ABS control module). So, I took it to another place. I told hime this other place said it was my PCM that was causing all of these problems. He was pretty amazed that his dealership could not diagnose the problem correctly (which is really strange). He told me the part needed to be replaced at the dealer only. I would have, but they screwed me around so much I was forced to leave.

He told me he would help me get my money back ($2400) if the PCM is truely bad. If it isn't the problem, then the place where I am getting it fixed would be out at least a 10% re-stocking fee of a $1700 part. They told me they tested the PCM and it WAS bad. So, I am going to wait till tomorrow and see if everything works. If it everything works ok, then I can most likely get my money back. If the part doesn't work, then the place that has my car now will be out some money and have to start all over again. Meaning I would be out of my car for another week . The worse thing that could happen now is if the part doesn't fix the problem and it really is the ABS control module. In that case I would be out around $1300 for parts and labor. This is a lot less than $2400, but still a lot of money.

I will let you guys know what happens. If it wasn't for this website, I would be out a lot more money than I needed. Thank you!

After almost two long weeks, I am getting my car back today. They said everything checked out ok, but looks like a speed sensor could still be bad. I asked him if it was out of the limp mode and he said yes. All I need to do now is ask them which sensor it is and then replace it myself. I also need to get in contact with Chrysler and get my money back for the PCM that was replaced. The dealer will help me with that. I will update more when I get it back later this afternoon.

I know a speed sensor is fairly inexpensive, but are they easy to replace? They are going to let me know which one later.

The speed sensors on the wheels are a piece of cake ! Took 10 minutes to change the passenger side out with no problem.

I just went to the place where my car is getting fixed. The car isn't even there!! They had to take it somewhere else to have someone look at it. They said, however, that the car is running fine, but the ABS and BAS/ESP light are still on as well as the wing. The wing light is still flashing and is up.

So guys, figure this one out, eh? What should I do?
